Took pictures of the 25 first LDs, I'm sure someone would like to have a look. Don't think it is too many pictures of these around the web. Each cover has its own artwork, which is just really cool! The back sides are plain with episode name and chapters, as you can see. I apologize for the poor picture quality, don't have a proper camera at hand, nor optimum light conditions!

A friend of mine paid like 110 quid for all the DS9 sets that he bought from Yahoo Auctions. Shipping not included, of course.

The tallest box set I got is the Urusei Yatsura set. It measures 335mm in height, just one mm or two too high for the IKEA Kallax shelf. Other boxes in the same height is Maison Ikkoku and Gundam Mastergrade box. Personally I prefer to have a little room above the LDs, a bit easier to get in and out of the shelf.

Anime on LD is usually really cheap (shipping excluded), and fun to collect. I just love the packaging done, nice artwork, extras, and sometimes just ridiculous oversized box sets. The bigger the better is my motto! As signofzeta said, you will need a lot of storage space that is heavy duty.

If the disc has an AC-3 track, then the player should output the AC-3RF signal automatically. All you have to do is connect the AC-3RF output from the player to the input on the demodulator, and then from the demodulator output to an input on your AVR. You might have to select the input manually on the AVR that the demodulator is connected to. Also, remember to power on the demodulator unit. The demodulator you have does not have a power light, so make sure you actually pushed in the power button.

Also, Japan uses 100 volt, not 120 volt like USA. Many power transformers are made to be 110 or 115 volt since it is a happy mid-point. Either way, it shouldn't matter in this case.

No, it is about what happens prior to the original series/movie trilogy. It is a prequel.
