DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT SHIP ANYTHING TO 'eliarias' in the USA (Pasadena).

This user logged on LDDb.com once (from a personal USA AT&T ADSL access point: 63.201.188.178) and performed 2 similar transactions for 2 Japanese box sets on August 10th.

At least on one transaction, payment was quickly made and LD shipped right away.
Now Paypal is calling back to cancel the payment on the buyer's request:

Quote:
Dear [xxx],

We were recently notified that one of your buyers filed a chargeback and
asked the credit card issuer to reverse a payment made to you on 2012 Aug
10.

The buyer claims that this purchase was made without authorization to use
the credit card.
Their credit card issuer needs additional information from
you about this transaction.

-----------------------------------
Transaction Details
-----------------------------------

Buyer's Name: Mary Arias
Buyer's Email: thearkmovement@hotmail.com
Buyer's Transaction ID: [removed]

Transaction Date: 2012 Aug 10
Transaction Amount: -$63.00 USD
Case #: [removed]
Your Transaction ID: [removed]

-----------------------------------
What to Do Next
-----------------------------------

Please respond within 10 days so that we can help resolve this chargeback.
To respond, log in to your PayPal account and go to the Resolution Center
to provide information about this transaction.

The credit card issuer decides if the buyer's claim is legitimate. Once the
credit card issuer receives your information, it may take up to 75 days to
make a final decision.

Because the credit card issuer has reversed the charge for this
transaction, we've placed a temporary hold on the funds associated with
this transaction until the case is resolved. Our user agreement explains
our policies on holding funds.

You might think someone in the family used someone else's card:

PAYPAL
Buyer's Name: Mary Arias
Buyer's Email: thearkmovement@hotmail.com

LDDb
Buyer's Name: Eli Arias
Buyer's Email: eliarias@me.com

But you can easily find an Eli Arias involved in the Ark Movement on Facebook:

https://www.facebook.com/eli.arias

The "ARK" thing even has a post on Aug 10th with the same shipping address than the LDDb's account:

Until things get clearer, consider anyone at this Name/Email/Address to be a thief and report any activity back to me ASAP.

Julien

That is more than a little funny coming from an A.R.K (Acts of Random Kindness) member!
Is this some sort of religious cult?

I sold my scream 3 on ebay a year ago and the buyer paid immediately. After that he stated to Paypal that I sent him scream 2 on PAL laserdisc, which was absolutely a lie. I had already left positive feedback because he paid right away. Paypal just gave him back his money and told him to send the disc back to me! I have the most expensive scream 2 on PAL laserdisc now.
It shows that when things go wrong, there is very little you can do about it.
He had much more transactions on ebay than me. Even though my feedback was 100% positive, they just chose the guy with they highest number of transactions.

Very strange belturner.
Just goes to show how vulnerable we really are when it comes down to it.

Sounds like a kind cult ? LoL!

Thank you for the fair warning Julien......

Just to make sure... I am not talking about this guy. I just found in general that there is very little you can do when things go wrong. It is your word against the other...
I just was so surprised that paypal could just take back the money without any proof that I did wrong...

Obviously a wily buyer given they know paypal would not see any difference in Scream 2 versus Scream 3 even though they are worlds apart in terms of collector value.
Cheeky of them to also send back the PAL version of Scream 2 which is almost worthless although personally I prefer it to the US version as it came in a really thick sleeve superior to even the Japanese edition.

I've developed my own failsafe system so I know any title that anyone wishes to return is the same copy I sent them and it has not been switched. I don't want to give too much detail away about what that entails - suffice to say if you try that stunt with me you will fail.

You can tell paypal that the item sent back was not the item sent. Show PP the picture of your listing and go from there. Chances are this maggot has done this before.

He even emailed me later on if I had any more rare releases for sale :)
I asked paypal how they decided on this case. They just based themselves on the fact that he had more transactions than me on ebay even though his feedback was less than 100% positive, while mine was 100% positive.
I didn't care too much about losing scream 3 over this, but it made me really angry that they could just refund the guy without any proof and take the money back out of my account.

Did you tell paypal the item did not match what you sent and have them look at your listing?

Here's how Paypal really makes the decision on what to do in a case like yours:

How can this case be resolved in a way that "looks good" but causes Paypal no loss.

That's it. That's the criteria no matter what BS they give you as a reason.

Both Paypal and Ebay hold all the cards in a showdown. They are the final arbiters of how to decide any case and so whose interest are they looking out for? They tell sellers they're looking out for them and they tell buyers the same thing. When push comes to shove, they are looking out for themselves. You can't even take them to small claims even if you can prove you're right without incurring expenses that are greater than the amount in question because, per the user agreements, you have to sue them in the jurisdictions where they have their offices.

The only way to get a fair decision from Paypal or Ebay would be if you could actually have a third party arbitration, meaning a party without links to Paypal/Ebay. That's not available but should be.

It's a fact that Paypal does make many determinations that are correct and fair, but only because that outcome coincides with what is in Paypal's best interest.

That's bloody cheeky.

I have two items to pay for on eBay next week as my funds are a little shy as of last week with a few bills to pay, but bloody cheek for not paying so I guess a few want him to cough up the money!

I often send the seller a pm stating when I can pay, the item is held by secured rather than still up for sale or bidding otherwise I'd lose it altogether so I don't no what's wrong with this 'eliarias' sounds like a real total tight a$$, I'm not well off with buying things but I cough up like everyone else does when buying Laserdiscs or paying my bills, I bet he doesn't even pay his, bills, I wonder if he's been black listed with bad credit debts.

Has this guy been banned from Paypal and Ebay not that it matters he'll just get another credit card to BS sellers but soon his name will get to the banks and they won't grant him, or shouldn't grant him any credit card to defraud sellers.

If I come across anything that doesn't look like the norm, I'll post here.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's peeking at this thread. Well let him, peek sooner later he'll get nicked, arrested for fraud.

So he/her has pattern well they might change their behaviour but sooner or later always screw up because we're all human. So how did he or she manage to get two identities or maybe he's a shemale and saving up for sex operation.

I have submitted the evidences listed in my original message to Paypal for review and contacted the buyer.

Hopefully this is just one big misunderstanding or a Paypal glitch.

I will keep everyone informed of the case updates.

Rgds,
Julien

Stupid question. Can you not get the police involved in this. Chances are this guy has been doing the rounds with this scam and certainly this would constitute fraud.

Good afternoon Guys,

I have just been reading about this and all of your replies.

Thank you for all of your comments and thank you Julien for letting us all know about this.

Hey belturner . . . . .Sorry to read what this slime did to you as this isn't pleasant at all.

Take care all and try to shop safely.

If I get treated like this then I will also let you all know, because we watch each others backs here, as that's what friends do.

Regards

:x :)

I think it annoys everyone and especially when ebay themselves seem to be very uninterested in the problems these people cause...
There's been a lot of complaints about how ebay handle con artists.
