Let me know if/when you go. I will gladly pitch in to help cover your gas, expenses, whatever. I would just like to recover my LD-W1.

Will do. I've got a lot of stuff going on right now, but I'll squeeze it in when I can.

I'm good for some too. Whatever you need. I even have a good shipping box I can ship out empty for you to ship back in. Though my unit might actually still be in a box it was shipped to Duncan in.

You'll have to collect model numbers and identifying info from us all. In my case it's a CLD-D97, possibly still in a box that was shipped from a Scott Davis, Denver CO. No remote or manual or other accessories.

Greetings, I am about 3 months in with my dealings with Duncan. I sent my CLD-D505 to him in November 2016. I was in contact with him up until about January 7th. He said at that time I would have it back within a week. I have not heard back from him since after repeated attempts to message him and get word.

I also had two different people email him asking him for help on repairing 'LD Players'. No one has heard back from him, which is different than what I understand his MO to be. I thought for sure he was ignoring my attempts, and would gladly take in new merchandise.

On the plus side he does deal with PayPal, since reading this forum yesterday, I have put in a claim through PayPal.

Anyone who has had dealings with him and used PayPal...you can put in a claim through PayPal up to 180 days AFTER you made your payment. Based on what I am reading, I may never see my LD player again, but at least I might be able to get my funds back. I am going to use that to get a used one...I have way to many LD's to not have something to play them.

John here in Ossining, NY
As previously posted awhile back, I had sent my Theta Voyager to Duncan at the Bayview Address last used before he moved to the Frenchie Lane address in Yelm, Washington. He fixed it and returned it. A year later another problem and I sent it to him at the Frenchie Lane address- this is two years ago last November. As most of the people on the forum have mentioned, no response or response mentioning all the problems he was having- back, separation, etc.
Two years went by with occasional responses and excuses and I finally hired an Investigation Company in Olympia, Washington- OlyTac- to find him and my Theta, based on the picture of a Voyager in the Shed that Grasshopper had provided.
The PI went there and actually met him, although not sure he is living there, the woman who answered the door told the PI Duncan would be there in about an hour. The PI met Duncan and proceeded to the Shed, where he found MY unit, Duncan gave it to him and then the PI and I arranged UPS shipping back to me. I now have it, albeit still not working.
SO, there is actual hope that you COULD get a unit back from him IF you want to. The pictures posted are real. The address is real.

I need someone to fix it! Power light on but no response. HELP!!!

Wow! Tucker interesting story!!! I'm glad you were able to get your machine back. Maybe other members could hire your guy to get their players back.

I hired OlyTac ( Olympic Tactical and Investigations in Port Angeles, Washington. 360-477-0731; email Keith Shores at <keith at olytac d0t com> He was the contact. I paid them $300 ( $75 per hour ) thru Paypal for his work to locate and get my unit back, but the bulk of that was for the initial research and tracking down the location and waiting / meeting Duncan at the Frenchie Lane location. You can look them up on Google and email them. IF anyone has the documentation to show Duncan that a unit belongs to them Keith will be able to take it, bring to the UPS store and then YOU would arrange shipping thru UPS store #1435 in Tacoma, Washington to return to you. Cost me $129 to ship the 65 lb unit back!

Awesome info! Thanks!
So in my case I just have to decide if it's woth it to recover a CLD-79. I think it was certainly worth it to recover a Theta even non-working.
I have since actually purchased another CLD-79 form ebay. I really just wanted to compare the video from CLD-79 against DVL-90 and RUNCO LJR-II. I was HOPING to do that comparison with an optimally tuned/adjusted/refurbished unit rather than a random one from ebay, but whatever. The one I have plays fine, so maybe there is no further tuning that would make any difference to the picture. Or maybe there is. I'll never know I guess. Maybe I'll try to get on Kurtis Barrs waiting list. :)

A lot of us the Paypal transaction is more then a few years ago. Last time I looked mine up had to go into the Paypal archives, and wait for an e-mail with the details.

Mine being a CLD-92 not sure it's worth spending that much on top of what I already paid to get it back. On a more valuable rare player I say go for it.

Unbelievable that someone coud get away with a scam like that.I guess that tucker3196 opened a possibility here for everyone being ripped over. What would be the nxt step if the PI didn't get the player from him in person?

Cops in my town will pretty much only either raise revenue with fines or respond to major violent crime these days. Anything in between they couldn't be assed.
