I made my first purchase on LDDB a few weeks ago. All seemed fine with the seller, he got a shipping quote for the discs for me, I paid, and then he sent me a tracking number and said the discs had been sent and would take 5 days. 3 weeks later and still nothing has arrived and the seller stopped responding to my messages after the tracking number was sent (which the courier says does not exist).

I have filed a claim with paypal, which I am still waiting to hear back about, but I was wondering if LDDB takes any responsibility or helps at all in these cases?

Not a great first purchase. I was hoping to start using LDDB to buy some discs I really wanted, but after this I am not so sure.

I would be willing to bet that as long as the seller cannot prove you took delivery then you will very likely get a refund from Paypal.

If the tracking number you paid for does not work then it is entirely the fault of the seller.
You'll get a full refund via paypal.

If you feel the seller has been less than honest then you can contact the site owner (Julien) who ultimately can close the sellers shop if that is justified.

since you paid with paypal you are covered, so what really is the issue here??????

so one bad seller may have slipped or worse but that doesn't mean all LDDB sellers are bad.
also you are in the UK, where was the disc coming from????? this also could be an issue with customs.

I didn't say that any other sellers were bad, it just leaves a bad taste when your first purchase goes wrong. I am not blaming the site or anyone but the seller.

All I was asking was if LDDB helps with these issues, or if I just have to go through Paypal. I know I am covered, but I didn't know if there is something I should do on this site other than leave feedback.

The seller is in Germany and I was told the discs left him on the 28th October, so I really don't think that's the issue. I have bought plenty of discs from German sellers on facebook and eBay in the past and they always arrive very quickly.

He contacted me today, I asked him to get back to you ASAP.

Sorry,

I was on my death-bed for four weeks with double-pneumonia. This is on top of my my other health issues was way over dangerous. I was floating somewhere out of my body. Now I have deep depression too because people are so mistrustful, inpatient and damn materialistic.

The dear buyer was informed of problems but was so nervous canceled his payment and will loose out on my standard 100% guarantee and gifts. He watches too many horror movies?

The other buyer (BRAZIL) for his understanding will be sent his LDs on 1.12.2015 FREE-OF-CHARGE and MONEY-BACK when I get home.

I will be moving to sunny Spain as my doctors recommend. I will be selling ALL my LDs at bargain prices and buy DVDs only. I am too old and weak for LaserDiscs.

This was a fine hobby of mine but (we) the collectors are ALL absolute insane. Think TWICE before complaining about cheap junk.

.... pray for us on the hour of our death.

I've been pleasant throughout this whole thing. I did a PayPal claim a week ago because I still hadn't heard anything. The seller could have replied to it but chose not to, so PayPal saw in my favour and have now refunded me.

Today I got a message from the seller calling me a 'LOSSER' and now I see the above post saying I watch too many horror films.

This seller is completely unprofessional and I advise others to avoid.

Hello Rudolf,

Did you close your shop or sent emails that you would be unable to respond/ship to your pending buyers?
Otherwise you can imagine the lack of communication escalating into a worrying situation when you've already paid.

I don't understand what you are trying to say here.

How about the BINGO PAL/NTSC version error?
Are we dealing with *three* unhappy buyers at the same time now?

I am contacting all of your recent buyers to inquire about the status.

This is not an acceptable excuse. If you didn't want to sell them cheap, nobody forced you to do it. Once sold, the buyer is expecting to get the discs delivered with minimum communication to update on the status.
Wouldn't YOU expect the same?

Julien

All I'll say is that I was looking at purchasing a few titles but read the shop policy which stated that dispatch might take up to a month due to his poor health, so I decided against it. It was very clear for me, but of course this might have been changed between 1st December and now.

I had purchased LDs from firefox before, I had no issues. He replied to my emails and he was nice to deal with. I am sure this is as he described because of his health issues.

Firefox ordered 6 discs beginning of 2014 and never ever paid for them or send me a message , that he´s not interested any longer in purchasing these discs.

Firefox bought a disc from me - although it took a bit until he paid it was a good deal and I cannot complain.

Coms were good and transactions were completed ..... no issue.
