Quick explanation on the reasons behind this:

  • Some previous feedbacks mentioned "not as described" but buyer was still happy with purchase
  • Shipping fees for boxsets were rather weird (counting the number of LD inside the set instead of the overall weight)
  • An escalating discussion with a buyer wanting to cancel his purchase after pictures of the purchased items proved to not be "new/sealed" at all
  • Unreasonable respond from James (won't cancel, threatening to put huge customs fees as retaliation, etc.)
  • After negotiation, payment was reversed but shop closed to assess the complete inventory grading
  • James just moved the 10/10 to 9/10 instead of the 7/10 or 6/10 they look like on close pictures
  • I asked him to revised his inventory per the clear grading rules again

This is were he went ballistic, calling me stupid, comparing me to ISIS or the police officer in "Les Miserables" who killed himself at the end of the story.
Shop and account were closed seconds later. I don't take personal insults lightly.

This is what he calls "new/sealed":

He's using the same username on eBay: hippochai

He really loves yellow stickers:

Either shops play by the rules and use a normalized grading that should avoid major problems -- even though I know it's not perfect. But if you refuse to play by the rules, then you don't get to play at all.

I have met him in person in HK before. He's a very, very weird person. A teacher of some sort with too much money and time on his hands.
Tried to have a discussion with him about LDs and Vinyls but he loves listening to himself talking while barely acknowledging whatever you are trying to argument or criticize.

He's clearly living in his own world. Better leave him there, away from LDDb.

Julien

I was the recent unfortunate buyer who had to deal with this guy.
One word perfectly sums up my dealings with him - nightmare.

The MUSE titles I had purchased were old worn stock with sellotape on the covers and lots of corner wear and tear. The original factory wraps were torn up and/or missing and there were no sticker OBIs just fake yellow stickers. He insisted these were still 10/10 brand new /sealed which was laughable. I asked for a immediate refund and it was only when Julien intervened that he eventually issued a refund after a long battle.

I just want to add that cararte also got conned by this same guy so I do feel sorry for cararte even though he has had a bad rap on this forum himself. My own private dealings with cararte have all been good, especially in comparison to this Hong Kong cheat.

Oh! I always wondered who that seller was. I live in HK and follow this guy on Facebook but I've been considering unfollowing recently because all he posts is really weird self-indulgent stuff.
