Just wanted to alert the community of an unethical member on eBay. Username: rekishi207

Found an eBay-listing with a HLD-X9 advertised as "junk". It was sold as "junk" due to being untested and some minor cosmetical defects. Thought I found a scoop and decided to buy it, just for the sake of it and maybe the "junk" was indeed a treasure.
I paid for it and sent the seller a message to take precautions and double box the player, etc. The seller responded and gave the impression that the player was in his hands and would be packaged according to my message. He had done so in the past with previous orders and got positive feedback.
After the purchase I found a similar player over at Rinkya/Buyee with the same cosmetical defects, advertised as "junk". I now got suspicious since this was an active auction ongoing with lots of bidders. I thought, WTF, I have already bought this? So I re-checked the pictures in both of the listings and found that the serial number at the back was indeed the same. But in the eBay listing the serial number was removed, probably to "hide" the obvious scam.
Today I received a message that the seller was sorry for not having this item in stock anymore and it occured due to his inventory mismanagement. Shortly after, I got a complete refund and in the cancellation he mention and claims that the "Buyer asked to cancel the order". Hell no, I didn't asked for a cancellation but he did it to save his own skin. :evil:

I was all the time backed by the eBay money back guarantee, so I had no worries.

The serial numbers don't even match on those listings you gave?

Even if the same machine I'd go for unethical before scammer.

You are right about the serial numbers not matching, the original listing has been removed by eBay and no longer available so another listed player shows up instead.

It's not totally uncommon for Japanese sellers to list on YJP and ebay at the same time, though the timing as you describe it sucks.

At least you got your money back. How does the saying go? "Nothing ventured, nothing gained."

Not ideal to list them both at the same time, one as an auction and the other as a buy it now. But I see the point of listing them several places to gain a more widespread audience and potential buyers. You are correct about the saying! :)

Been noticing this a lot with other stuff on ebay and other selling sites.
Guitars listed on Reverb and Ebay at the same time, one sometimes cheaper than the other.

Just ways for these larger seller scammers to pull games when they are just trying to make the most amount of money as possible.

I think it's actually very likely they were trying to win the YAJ listing and turn a profit on it. I've seen this with a couple video game sellers on eBay. The location of the seller and the YAJ listing will be different, dead giveaway.

Either way it stinks.

If the links no longer work, they might have been removed/deleted.

Looks like there is yet another listing from the same seller on eBay. Identical photos of the player with the serial number removed from the eBay listing. As we speak, there are 5 bids on it over at Rinkya and you can buy it straight away through eBay. I'm very suspicious as of now, it cannot be an "error" this time around.

It's 100% not an error. It's what I talked about in my last post and it is becoming more and more common unfortunately.
