How would you know if he is not doing other business under various names elsewhere; like in real estate, who knows? That you can't see from an ebay account.

Cararte was big in collecting rare stuff like late 2000 release lds, hivision, sqz, rare players around 2005-2010. He spent crazy money on some of the titles, some of them he got free scamming people
In the end, he has some crazy collection of rare lds.

I think around 2010-2012, he decided to move on and now wants to unload his collection. In the beginning he scammed so many people. He sold stuff and never shipped etc.. Now no one will buy from him but he has some legit collection of maybe worth several thousand dollars. Every now and then he tries waters, hopefully maybe people forgot him or some newbie will bite.

If it wasn't for his bad reputation, his stuff would sell for his asking prices no problem.

well, he does have 1 negative but that's over 1 year ago. also he may not rip people off but just on private transactions???????? and seems like he is having more fun with his game and everybody here is getting pissed off. takes him a few minutes to start a new account, but then we all go crazy and feed his ego by posting over and over again............. ________________________________ the rein-o official signature:

He is the only guy in portugal who tries to sell ld and ld players. If there is any other Portuguese with lds, too bad for him.

IP addresses for most home ISPs change regularly (and even for those that don't like Virgin, there's often a way to force it to change). Blocking a range of IPs is feasible but is likely to have collateral damage, eg blocking innocent people who happen to live not too far away and be on the same ISP. With carrier-grade NAT soon to come, it's likely that in the future, blocking only one IP address might actually block multiple users. There's really not that much that can be done, basically, except being on the lookout.

OK, guys, I am outing myself here . I bought from him back in 2012 my actual Laserdiscplayer through ebay. I paid with payPal back then and communication was slow, but nevertheless I got answers. If I wouldn´t have get my Player withhin time, I´d opened a case through PayPal, so i felt safe. It took a while before I got my Player, it seemed a bit endless until he actually started to send it, but in the end it arrived very well packaged and doubled boxed without a scratch here. So, thats what i can tell about him, it was a good deal and I got what I ordered, though, as as aid before communication was slow.

Why does this guy insist on scamming people on LDs? he can make a lot more money scamming people in other more popular goods like cellphones

That you can't see from an ebay account. As for selling; i think it has to do with rarities. Or he has been an ld collector (and used to be a member here) and has precious items and just found a way to just list them over and over and catches the money.

This is a very good rebuttal. I don't know why my mind was locked on him doing it on LDs only. Interesting story, I guess he is bitter about paying a lot of money for his collection in the first place and trying to get it back... Otherwise why not just do business the legit way.

Maybe he hit the lottery:) or he ripped someone off big time. All I know is he was trying to sell his beloved hi-vision collection a few weeks ago.
