Why make all these aliases all the time? Just silly.... I'd say close it and refer him to his cararte account.

I confronted him by email (he already played the "Why you call me Ricardo, I'm not Ricardo!" when the IP address was the same...) and got a:

Quote:
Yes i opened an account and i was hoping things could move on, but you and some guys just think i should not belong to your group.

Well for me that's not important, if you want to block me just do it and i will never buy anything from your site anymore.

He really lives in a different dimension... where facts are less important than feelings :-)

Note the recurring promise to never come back so far has translated into 20+ accounts over 13 years:

That's exactly 300 orders entered via these accounts with the following breakdown:
  • 150 of them were cancelled.
  • 48 are still in "waiting for invoice" (about $4,750 worth).
  • 102 were eventually paid.

Feedback-wise it's about the same:
  • 96 negatives
  • 13 neutral
  • 87 positive

He just can't be trusted. He's been using disposable accounts and just creates a new one when the previous account gets hammered with negative feedbacks. What is pissing off most sellers is that he keeps promising to pay (that put the sold LDs out of inventory and out of shops all that time) for weeks, months, sometimes even years, and then don't pay.

Hi Julien - I just want to say I've bought some items worth a considerable amount of money from Cararte in the last few years and never had any problems with him at all. His descriptions were 100% accurate and his packaging some of the best I've ever personally seen. He was always prompt with his replies and helpful too. In fact I've had better service from him that some active sellers on LDDB.com recently!

It's obvious he is still very fond of the laserdisc format otherwise why would he keep coming back. He told me he regretted selling his collection and I believe him. I feel a bit sorry for what has happened him in terms of his reputation and I think he deserves another chance personally.

Wouldn't it be better to actually know who he is so that buyers can decide for themselves to buy from him or not??
Also from what i've read about the issues it was just like all of us who get screwed, we waited too long or didn't keep good paperwork or track record
of our situations......

Let's face it, this has gone on for 13 pages with lots of people posting to say i'm glad we can find him and block him.
Not like other posts who say "I too got screwed and just found this topic"

I don't know if he's a good seller, but we have years of examples of him showing up online under different identities (including lying about who he is), going on a buying frenzy of sealed LDs then stopping communication, paying sometimes, paying partially, not paying at all and disappearing entirely, leaving sellers wondering what just happened.

So far the same pattern has emerged (16 transactions, 5 cancelled): http://www.lddb.com/feedbacks.php?user=retro_games

He did good on his first order in November but became flaky thereafter and I started getting "please cancel this/these order(s)" from sellers before some of them started getting suspicious that it was Ricardo back again.

I'm tired of cleaning up his mess every time he has some compulsive buying outburst.

Spotted a Ricardo Tomas from Portugal joining a VHS group on facebook. Made a post about some Japanese high-end VHS players right away. Perhaps he has to find some other type of format now after being pushed out of basically anything related to laserdisc?

Well, he just bought what little credit he had here by jumping back to a feedback rating of 0, recent non-payments cancelling the few positives received a few months ago:

I told you he couldn't be trusted...

I wonder what's up. I mean the post is from January so if he's actively using it to scam people it would seem he would post more like he did all those listings on eBay.

I think laser rot is contagious to humans. First two syndromes are duncanism and cararsteism. I wonder what next. It seems these are incurable.

Hello,

I think cararte (aka retro_games) he's back again as djnando from... you would have guessed by now... Portugal.

22 purchases, 18 cancellations (for non-payment) so far. Sounds right like him.

One seller confirms that the Paypal invoice to the GMail account turned up an account with first name "Ricardo".

Should we just delete ALL his accounts? He lied again.

Isn't it getting borderline of insanity after all these years?
Or is it a business case?
