Post subject:  How about a category to discuss current and new technologies

I see some of the forum members skipped on anything that came after DVDs and now if they want to get on the up to date terms, it is a decade's worth of information to go through. We can have sub forum where the more up to date members can share some information.

For example HDMI 2.0 is a big confusion. Anyone wants to buy a new AV receiver or TV set needs to inform oneself. It can come in many different flavors like 10.2gbps or 18bgps bandwidth. In this sub forum we can discuss upcoming 4K UHD, HDMI 2.0a, Dolby Atmos, DTS X, Barco Auro 3D ,HDR , Dolby Vision, UHD Blu-ray, Darbee Darblet and many other. Some of these new techs such as Barco Auro 3D upmixer, Darbee Darblet can be applied to enhance Laserdisc playback.

This sounds like a great idea especially as laserdisc itself was once the height of home video technology, to discuss the new ones like 4K blu Ray seems appropriate. As someone who recently got a 4K TV and still intends to collect and play laserdiscs on it this seems like an interesting topic particularly as I would like to get an AV Receiver but don't know much about surround systems.

while I think this site should be LD only I do think this is a good idea.
I for one have been out of the tech loop for some time and am considering a Bluray player soon.

things like HDMI 2.0 etc would be nice to know and understand, also it would be a great feature to also know how to possibly
use these newer sets with LD if even possible.
Thanks Substance.
