As above, some of my older discs (African Queen, Young Frankenstein, 80's - analog only) make a continuing flutter sound in 'spots' over the speakers. Seems to be more in the beginning, but not both sides? Sound almost exactly like an old film projector from elementary school. I don't think a mic picked up projector, and it does continue throughout.
I have only a single LD player, so no compare. For these I have to set to analog in, and player set to CX reduces, but does not eliminate noise.
Likely my discs, my player? Nature of early discs?

I don't know but I've been told (repeats) that's just what an early CLV disk does (repeats) (also, is there any speckling? The early 80's Pioneer disks can rot a bit, and that can affect Analog sound) edit: And if you're really serious about getting the best sound from early disks, you want one of the nicer gas tube players or a Panasonic 900u. I just take glitches in old disks in stride, they're over 30 years old and still mostly work afterall

if there is flutter or hellicopter sound that is usually a form of rot. it should have some spotting but could be just audio also. and again it could be a flaw on the pressing. so one of a few things. ________________________________ the rein-o official signature:
