I have a Pioneer CLD-V840 (don't laugh, it's paid for). The unit has a "surround" button with three different surround sound modes. But there is no audio output aside from the L/R composites. I currently have it set up in stereo, and when I select one of the surround options the audio just echoes. I cannot find any documentation for this player. Does anyone know what the surround option does, and how to best take advantage of it? Thanks, |

It just simulates surround sound like Pro Logic, QS , and other algorithms did. I'd just use stereo |

It’s a V model, it was the 90s, say no more. It’s a crappy phase delay trick. Btw, the way you wrote this post makes me think you don’t know that matrixed surround exists in most LDs and that AC-3 was merely another way of doing surround. You only need the analog L and R for Dolby Surround. |
