The CAV version of RoboCop has two different disc manufacturers, Pioneer and Kuraray. Does it say anywhere on back of the jacket what to look for where the specific edition was manufactured besides the labels on the disc? I would prefer Japanese Kuraray over Pioneer if they rot less? Mint Mark samples: Pioneer USA: Kuraray: CC1350L-A09-K 7L090194 CC1350L-B09-K 708D0204 CC1350L-C10-K 709A0616 CC1350L-D02-K 7P090870 |

If anything it will say on some older titles disc made in Japan or disc made in USA but something like this era of Criterion probably no. I own the disc and have never had an issue with it, not even known which company pressed it. |

Both Criterion editions CAV and CLV are listed as light rotters but doesn't reveal which disc manufacturer is the sh*tty one for CAV version? Could be one or both manufacturers having rotted discs? Robocop is a smart movie but a lot of dumb people like it and many LD users consider any and all visible video defects whatever to be “rot”. I wouldn’t worry about it at all. |

If you check the math behind the rot level indicator there is not much to worry about. Two 1* rots have been reported with a rot / colletion rate of 0,5%. I personally would not mind. And as zeta wrote: Rot level * can be very subjective. In case you want to make sure to know what you are buying just contact the seller. If he is legit he will not hesitate to check the disc and/or make some pictures of the mint marks. In case he does not want to do so: Avoid him. Just my personal 20 Cents |

Just my personal 20 Cents Buying a used disc is no problem, make contact to seller and ask him to check the discs for country of origin. Buying new factory sealed would be more difficult to check the country. Perhaps a few random white dots appear on screen throughout the whole movie should not be a problem, but constant white dots and other imperfections would be very annoying and to be considered possible rot? Vielen dank. |

Vänliga Hälsningar, Markus Nowadays I prefer to buy unopened discs. Been lucky so far, all discs had rot free and clean playback. |

I love the fact you open them. Some people here are certainly going to get crazy, but I think LDs are to be watched... like cars are made to be driven not to be collected in glas boxes. And I got to admit: I did open a sealed LD as well. Maybe the goal is to collect two versions of every movie? One sealed and one to watch? |

I open all my new discs and watch them otherwise I can't enjoy them. I'm downizing my collection. will only keep the cool stuff and the rest will have to find a new home. You are blessed with Autobahn, that's nice. |

Oh and the Autobahn... not what it used to be. Always to crowded, a lot of restricted sections and construction sites. A few years ago I would have revolted against any speed limit but nowdays I think it would not make a big difference whatsoever (And that is from someone who had been lucky enough to drive some pretty fast cars). W202 have become pretty rare in general. Especially original ones that have not been tuned the crap out of it. I am looking forward joining you next month in Sweden! Gotta always spend about 6 weeks from January to March with you. Way more entertaining than driving fast in a straight line on the Autobahn. |

About Robocop, this movie has a very good audio and picture quality on Criterion release. It's intoxicating to watch this movie. Which city do you visit for 6 weeks? |

Robocop as Criterion release is the number one on my wishlist. There is so much to love about this movie. Just need to be careful, as I tend to spend a little to much cash on LDs lately. I will be visiting Arjeplog again (I do work for a Tier 1 supplier). |

Yes, Robocop was made with both love and heart from the director. LD and beer are good things spending money on. |
