That is a really high price for those discs! It may be time to put some stuff on ebay soon.

Now, I happened to buy Citizen Kane as well. I'm not sure if this is the right thread, but I have to ask, do you think I got it for a good price? Here's the auciton.

I mainly bought it because it's Criterion #1 and, of course, I like the film very much. But then again, I'm not sure how much it is worth but it seems to be in good condition so I guess the price was acceptable.

i think 22.50 was O.K. i wanted it but it went too high for what i want to spend.
it is the first larger silver box, so now you need to get the larger first silver box of king kong,
if you don't have it already.

The KK colorized Ld often sells high because no colorized KK was released on dvd (just VHS). Some may not even want to watch a colorized 1933 KK but want to complete their KK collection for posterity.

yep, i saw some guy on ebay listed a transformerscollection with a transformers LD but there
was a crack and he said he never even owned an LD player.

so that could be an issue also with some discs, you're not just bidding against someone who
wants to watch it but someone who wants to put it on the shelf.
like me with citizen kane ;)

I'm not a big fan of King Kong, but Citizen Kane sure has my attention. So out of those two, Kane certainly was the one for me to buy but maybe I'll get King Kong sometime if the price is right. Oh well, I'm sure Kane will look better on this LD than what it does on my Dvd from Atlantic so it'll easily replace my other copy of the film. :)

i sort of remember reading that the re-release criterion Citizen Kane: 50th Anniversary Special Edition #142 (1941) [CC1259L]
had a better picture quality, but i never cared to get it since it's not number 1 :D

I don't think you paid too much. I found mine for less than that but I was willing to pay more so I just got lucky. It's a beautiful set, especially when you compare it to what else was on the market in Dec. 1984. If you find the first box of Kong you may want to pick it up as well. Kong was never on the top of my film lists either, but the commentary on this disc is so good, (as well as the Image release), that I found myself appreciating it more than I ever expected to. Now I love the film and watch it often. Plus, having the two boxes next to each other on the shelf just looks cool.

Ah, so it was you, nissling, who out bit me by 50 cents lol. All is fair in love and eBay though, I was out so didn't have the chance to get into a bidding war. You got a great price, well done! : )
