Recently acquired this title

Silence of the Lambs, The #314 (1991) [CC1466L]

But was really after this one

Silence of the Lambs, The: Special Edition #192 (1991) [CC1344L]

Which got me thinking, why would a later release not have the special features of the earlier one? And why would they re release the same movie? Would you be a bit pissed off if you had spent on the first only to see another version released a cople of years later?

Really please with the picture quality though :D and only cost me six quid

The CLV version was released 2 years later as a "low-cost" release (half price), stripping out the extras and only retaining the video/sound transfer on fewer discs.

It was common for criterion to release a special edition generally in CAV then barebones in CLV encode for less money. Trend continues today, CLV ones go for much less whereas some CAV special editions are worth good money.
