So I have a handful of Criterion LDs in my collection, but recently ran across an unopened copy of High Noon at a local used music/game store. I opened it to watch the movie last night and found the inserts that came with the movie. One was an add for other Criterion movies, and the other was a little memo on instructions on watching the movie, which I thought was pretty neat. Do all Criterion films have this and my other movies are just missing them? I have a couple other movies with inserts, but not any of the Criterion films. More reason to be envious of those that got to experience this while they were still new. I love little stuff like this, knowing the history and what went into the production of something.

I've got High Noon, but no inserts. No idea if it's missing or never had it.

I'll have to recheck mine. I know my Blade Runner and Halloween don't have them, fairly sure anyway.

I think they did this mostly with earlier stuff, trying to explain things like still galleries and multi audio before those things were more well known. A lot of people still had analog only decks so you had to print out a thing explaining that they need to buy another player if they want stereo because Leonard Maltin is all up in the analog left. Things like that.

Many Criterion LDs don't have any of these features so there is nothing to explain.

That makes more sense. I know High Noon was one of the earlier Criterion discs. The stereo/non-stereo player deal makes sense.
