Doesn't the Criterion version of "This Is Spinal Tap" have a different commentary than the DVD releases? I have both, but haven't yet played through the commentaries.

This Is Spinal Tap: Special Edition #238 (1984) [CC1390L]

je

The Criterion LD has the same commentaries as the Criterion DVD. The MGM DVD has the commentary with Michael McKean (as David St. Hubbins), Christopher Guest (as Nigel Tufnel), and Harry Shearer (as Derek Smalls), all in character.

TLK

hi first time posting here. just starting to get into laserdiscs and this has been very helpful for making a list of titles to seek out.

a few updates maybe:

it looks like the new blu ray of bram stokers dracula has the criterion commentary on it

also criterion reissued fisher king on blu ray with I presume the same commentary (I don't have it to confirm this)

thanks for everyone's work putting this list together!

I just picked up the blu ray today. I'll try to check it out in the next day or so.

I just checked the commentary on the Criterion blu-ray release of The Fisher King, and it does seem to be the same one as the Criterion laserdisc.

I noticed The Player is still on the list. Didn't Criterion release a blu-ray version of this recently?

Criterion is rereleasing Midnight Cowboy on Blu-Ray in May of 2018. Pretty sure we can remove that from the list.

"The Princess Bride" was recently released on Criterion blu-ray with the commentary from the LD.

swing time was recently added to the criterion Blu rays it does include the LD commentary. though loses a tiny bit of commentary on a bonus scene from hooray for love that is only on the LD.

Crash is also at long last coming out.

Singin' in the Rain - film historian Ronald Haver (different from Warner's DVD)

Different and the best in my opinion. Reveals many little known things not even mentioned in the other commentaries. Ron Haver
