It is a great video and really does show what this feature offered.
The one thing I noticed though was the way the text was overlayed often looked untidy on the screen with the original burned in Japanese subtitles still partially visible.
You'd think they could have oversized the black area at the bottom of the text box to hide the lower part of the Japanese subtitles. It seems somewhat flawed in that respect.

there are no subtitles in Cinderella (1950) [PILA-1124]
and you have to select either english or japanese with the LD-G

the odd thing about Ghost in the Shell: Premium Box (1995) [BEAL-921] is that you get burned in Japanese subtitles and english with LD-G
but i didn't get anything with CC or when i select the second graphics mode i only get black covering the subtitles.

That's strange. My copy certainly doesn't have burned-in subtitles of any kind, & CC works fine.

:oops: i think i made a mistake about the subs being burned in, but for some reason the CC dosn't work correctly on my TV.
but it may be my set? as i have had some issues with it working and not on some other discs.

I haven't seen any real advantage in ldg until now!!! My memories box is in japanese,but has ldg so i can see the english titles....

Now i just need to get my ldg player fixed!!!

Had to delete that LD-G video because it got flagged by Fox. I'll see about putting a new one up.

That is too bad. It was a nice visual explanation of what the LD-G technology was all about.

Studios really need to pause and think before issuing complaints. I understand their desire to protect their copyrighted property, but stopping someone from sampling a couple minutes of their content to demonstrate a rare and obsolete technology is miles away from true internet piracy.

Using short clips for commentary or criticism or review clearly falls under fair use (and you were fairly reviewing the use of LD-G) - although they may still complain, make sure to state your fair use rights in your intro and video description. Don't use more than 30 seconds of video from any part of a disc. And if a studio complains, challenge it. You have a right to do this and we need to challenge such abuses by the studios to keep our fair use rights.

Many of us would love to be able to view your video again. Actually being able to see the technology at work, answered so many questions.
Perhaps try uploading to Vimeo, or some other alternate video hosting site.

I got my hands on a DVL-V888 which (as was pointed out in another thread) is a US released player with LD-G functions.

So I'll cull together another video with some examples of LD-G. Since I have a DVD recorder with Closed Caption capabilities as well, I might see about putting some clips on there for LDs that have both LD-G and CC and see how crowded the picture is! :lol:

Just can't use any Phantom Menace clips since that's the one that got the original video taken down.
