I have seen many films that were very hard and expensive to obtain on laserdisc that were relatively cheap and easy to locate on VHD. e.g. Horrors, Spaghetti Westerns, Sci-Fi & music titles etc.

Cover art for VHDs is often completely different from laserdiscs but equally stunning to collect.

It is a great source for some extremely rare music titles that are not available on laserdisc.

If you are struggling to get a decent playback copy of a particular title on laserdisc that doesn't suffer from laser rot then buy the VHD version instead. Picture and sound quality is still very impressive and in a different league to CED technology.

A few examples - but there are loads:

Dio Super Rock 85 in Japan is not available on laserdisc so either you buy it on VHS, Beta or VHD. I have it on all of those!
The George Romero classic - The Crazies is available on laserdisc (and I have it too) but the VHD version was really cheap to get hold in comparison.

I love the format. No skipping, dropouts, or laser rot. Some titles have Digital Audio with graphics.

STAY AWESOME! :)

Just wondering, where do you even get VHD Players? I never see any on eBay.

I bought mine from a Youtuber who is also here on the LDDb. I won't mention his name in case he doesn't have anymore. However, cold_sleeper recommended this site ...

Note: They are NOT cheap. By the time I bought a player, 3D Headgear, and shipped it all (with four discs included) I had spent over $800!!!

DON'T BUY A VICTOR! They invented the format, but they don't ship well. Nationals do. National is aka Panasonic. I have a National DiscLord with 3D Mode. It arrived in perfect working condition, and still works great!

Alright. It sucks that they aren't cheap, and that most American films are P&S. If I ever get a VHD player, I would have to have these:
Rain Man (1988) [VHP28515~6]
Lupin the Third: The Castle of Cagliostro (1979) [TVD-2023]

Since I have a model with 3D mode and the 3D headgear I'd like one of the 3D releases (which will play in 2D mode if you wish).
