Dolby Stereo Digital Plus with PLIIx and overhead/below surrounds / Lucasfilm Ltd THX Sound System / JBL professional x73

Just a dreadful sequel. The first was good enough.

Had this sealed since I brought the HD-DVD player with many HD-DVD discs years ago. Maybe it was best left sealed as when its opened the evil will be unleashed. Twice at the cinema was bad enough. A few times on DVD was torturer.

Keep sealed and in its tomb do not open!

Maybe they should do a 'scary movie' called "Mummies Suck".

Was a sequel as dreadful as this was it needed? The first one was enjoyable but same ole stuff all over again and I can't watch it though at normal time, I'm skipping chapters as its lost my interest.

The HD picture image is about of the same colours as the DVD and I haven't watched the region 2 DVD in maybe 10 years or more the slow-mo I find annoying at times. The monkey's and the ending of Scorpion King looking like some 1980's computer graphic game was painful to the eyes.

Sound ImageImageImageImageImage

Sound is open all around. Dialogue is clear but just painful to listen too. It might be exciting if played with PLIIx added to the stereo surrounds. The lack of Jerry Goldsmith might be what is doing my head in. The music mixing on the end credits is like imhotep scratching away at his coffin. Where are the earplugs its too painful to listen too.

It was fun to watch. another "let's make a 2nd one" movie but popcorn entertainment if you ask me
always enjoyed the movies. I like the adventure spirit of things. Hated The Scorpion King but enjoyed Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.
enjoyable in every way.
Said goodbye to the HDDVD adventure some time ago but I remember the PQ was very nice. Might pick it up on BR any time soon if affordable.

But I hear you regarding the sequals

The Dolby Digital Plus soundtrack on the Paramount and Universal HD-DVD discs are encoded at 1.5mbps (Same as LD DTS). Warner used 640 kbps encoding on their HD-DVD and early BD releases. BD support includes DD+ but they never use it, almost always include DD only. So the early Universal and Paramount BD releases have DD at 640 kbps whereas their HD-DVD versions have DD+ at 1.5mbps. The Mummy discs were HD-DVD exclusive for many years, later came out on Bluray after the format war.
