Reported as a warner bros rotter disc. Apparently it played from start to end with no difficulties.
For £4.00 not bad for new/sealed.

Dolby TrueHD was fine nothing really special about the film mix that I not already heard in other films.

My copy is the one with DVD on one side of the disc and BR on the other side. The DVD side is the one that plays. The BD side fails.\

My disc has a UPC of 085391137641 and is a Warner Bros. disc.

I think the ones getting complaints is the USA one 300 (2006) [113764] (and maybe Canada and non-combo version as well).

I don't know where the Europe releases were manufactured.

The combo releases has the highest defect rate. Combo releases didn't work out very well for the Blu-ray either. They abandoned the flippers right away.

Might as well stuff the disc into a paper-shredder. Well good thing is you can always buy the UK pressing since the HD-DVD format isn't restricted with ridiculous region codes. :)

Decided to try to watch my 300 combo disc HD-DVD side today. I was feeling pretty hopeful as it was playing all the way through . . . almost.

It finally errored out at 1h 46min.

Probably the layer change?

I will have to take a good, hard look at my HDDVD collection and trash all the unplayable ones.

That will include Planet Earth: The Complete Series (2006) [E2939], Ocean's Trilogy: Giftset (2007) [118234-93OVS], Matrix: Ultimate Collection [---], box, Harry Potter: Giftset (2007) [---], etc. And some dozens of sealed ones I never even watched yet... that are probably unplayable by now.

Time to make some shelf space.

But it's heartbreaking.

Are all the Harry Potter movies in that set crap? I was able to watch the first two without error.

Tried 1 and 2 and couldn't play past a few minutes.
Gave up trying 3, 4 and 5, just assumed they were dead as well.

I just purchased the 4K/BD US box set so it's not really important anymore.

Avada Kedavra HD!
Accio 4k!
