First of all, happy new year to everyone on LDDb!

Second, I have to apologize for slow communication, lack of cover processing and overall shadowy presence in the past few weeks.

Basically I've been very busy with other projects and family matters (playing with my niece and nephew DOES beat PHP coding ;) )while spending a month in France with limited internet access and only a small laptop to connect.

But I will be back to Singapore soon and will resume regular updates/covers processing as usual (with almost 500MB of backlog to process!).

Things should get better soon :-)

Julien

Safe travels back to Singapore sir !
Glad you could be with family over the holiday season.......

You should be back in time to celebrate Year of the Horse festivities !
( is that calender reckoning recognized in Singapore?)

HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!!

Added an dynamic "Image Resizer" module to phpBB, now all linked images will have roughly the same dimensions.

https://www.phpbb.com/customise/db/mod/reimg_image_resizer/

Click on them to get the original displayed.

Also new (refreshed), the LDDb Search plugin is now compatible with all common browsers (including IE). Examples:

Internet Explorer (v8)

Firefox (v26)

Chrome (v32)

Added benefits for Firefox, the "auto-discovery":

I'll try to come up with better button graphics, those are quite 90's looking.

Enjoy!

Sorry for the very slow communication for the past 3 weeks but after a bad episode of food poisoning (+ increased suspicions that I might be becoming allergic to strawberries), I was away from home to Chicago, Montreal and Tokyo for 2 weeks.

When my jet-lag and overall sleep deprivation settles down I will continue processing updates and covers. Rather slow this week still as tonight is the Pat Metheny Group concert and Singapore has a "restaurant week" for which I booked a special dinner almost everyday :P

Glad to be back though!

Julien

Nice to be back to your digs to be sure.
Hope that your feeling better soon ! Sorry to read about your run of food issues !

Saw Pat Metheny back in the late '80s, really had a good band back then.
Please let the membership know how the concert was !
Take it easy getting back up to speed .........

It's been over 7 years since anyone posted a message in this thread. I hope I get an answer here.

Anyway......

If a member were to send lddb.com updates (new entries, pics, disc info), what is the average amount of time before it is entered into the database and validated?

Last post was exactly a year ago...

You can see I'm playing "catch up" with all the new updates: http://www.lddb.com/stats.php?id=8

I process covers by batches of few hundreds every few weeks.
Easy submit/updates are added quickly, the suspicious ones might wait for a similar entry to correlate first.

But nothing gets lost :-)

As always Julien, thank you for all the work you put into the database. Is there anything we/I can do to help in the way of confirming updates/submissions? Meaning is there any other information I can provide when submitting a new title or cleaning up a mistake in the database that would make it easier for you?

Folks, please donate a few bucks to cover at least some of the financial burden of Julien. It looks like the expenses are covered for a year but next year we should help him out.

Very much agree with that sentiment.

I was so grateful for the wealth of information I found when I stumbled on this site after resurrecting my old player and smallish collection from back in the day that had sat in storage (meaning my old bedroom at Mum's place!) for 15ish years.

I made a donation as a thank you and beyond just being happy to help out, it is nice to see my name on the list :) Had it in mind that when finances recover a little from a recent spending binge to do the same again.

Thanks Julien

Usually what will block me are things like:
  • Adding a title with the same reference (duplicate? NTSC/PAL counterpart? Too little researching before adding something already there?)
  • Updating with VERY contradicting information (maybe the title requires a split in 2 different entries?)
  • Cover contradicting the LD details, similar cover that might require a split in 2 different entries
  • Very weird/exotic/one-of-a-kind titles, etc.

The best way to speed up validation/updating is to either:
  • Contact me separately with a few pictures of the LD to prove the existence/details
  • Put some "notes to admin" in the Notes section to warn me that the data looks strange but that you have a good explanation for it

This way I know that you know that your submission requires a little more careful analysis.

Julien
