I have been a member of LDDB.com since 2006 and have used it to track down many great music laserdiscs which is primarily what I am interested in.
It is a fantastic site. Ebay has also been very useful for finding music laserdiscs and also getting to know many of the key music LD fans worldwide.
For several years I've been swapping LDs with fellow music collectors from all over the world. Usually no money changes hands - we both pay the shipping costs and send titles from each others wishlists. This has been great at filling those elusive gaps in my collection and I have never had any problems as all of the people I deal with are equally enthusiastic about trading and trustworthy.

I cannot help but think it would be even better if more people could participate.
Anyone interested?

That is one thing the LDDb Shop interface really doesn't make easy. An option to make the Wishlist, or maybe individual Wishlist items, public, along with the ability to send messages to other users, would really be helpful there.

This forum P(rivate) M(essages) should compensate for that shortcoming. But I never though a wishlist should be public. That's something that should go to... "Feature Requests" for other users to discuss if it's globally a good (and harmless) idea!

I have sometimes though that it would be useful to see if another user wanted something I had. Some users refer to their wishlists in their "about me" text, apparently without realizing that other users can't see it.

I don't make the prices... however the "Best Offer" function was added as a way to make a lower offer and tell the seller "You're a little too expensive". Or whoever is selling it is maybe not actually very serious about parting with this item from his/her collection easily and would eventually let go at a high price only.

Which brings me back to my original point - why pay when you can swap titles.

I remember once offering a really high price to a LD collector for titles I wanted to buy but it seemed they would not part with them at ANY price. I then tried offering them actual laserdiscs from their wishlist instead. That got the ball rolling instantly and we have been trading swaps ever since. I am just amazed more people don't do this because music LDs are expensive and almost everyone I ever met who collects them has some duplicates that are just gathering dust.

I'd love to do some 1:1 trades, even for common platters that I don't have. I'd much rather trade my duplicates than put stuff up for $3 on ebay.

That list I posted are tough to find but anyone who has them and wishes to trade/swap will be amply rewarded!

I am also happy to trade thousands (and I do mean thousands) of other music titles.

Each of you have brought up good points regarding swaps / trading.
Since joining LDDB I felt this was a niche that needed to have more access
through the network.
Very glad to read that this is a well received concept.
Future keeps looking brighter for this format ....
Thank you all for keeping it current......

I think swapping/trading a good idea but I don't seem to want to part with any that I have at least for the moment.

Hi Checken - good to see you on LDDB.com
I've definitely got some duplicates of the Pioneer promo LD series.

I need to sort through them once Julien authorises all my pending entries :P and will let you know what is available.
