You can literally freeze each frame and look at it as a piece of art work. Stalker is by far my favorite Tarkovsky film. Gripping and intense even though it feels like it was shot in slow motion.

I have not seen the original (1972 version) so I cannot make a judgement on the ending. All I know is that the movie is a weird Sci-Fi/Psychological thriller worthy of being seen.
Barbarella was one of my first CED's (for what it is worth). No worries The original is a Russian film so I'll warn you; it makes 2001 look fast paced. I didn't like it much on first viewing but every time I've seen it since I get something new out of it. I've yet to venture into CEDs, I find them fascinating and would love to get into it but I think the missus would kill me if I brought home another dead format. Regarding Barbarella - I saw the original version many times between 1968 and 1975 in Abilene, Texas. I saw it during the first run at the Paramount. It was at a drive-in quite often afterward. When I saw the Barbarella Queen of the Galaxy reissue about 1978 I immediately saw the changes in main titles and end titles. The main titles blurred more to obscure the nudity behind them. The end titles were various colors (instead of white) and floated up the screen in a different manner AND the music credit was for Michel Magne instead of Bob Crewe and Charles Fox. Despite using reissue Queen of the Galaxy art, the video versions, LD and DVD and BD, have been the original 1968 version. I think HBO showed the reissue version in the '80s. The reissue version is currently (Dec 2014) on Netflix!! Check out the changes!! Correction - Netflix is showing the original version with white end titles. vudu is streaming the reissue version with the radically different end titles.
