Well I went downstairs and checked, 2.5 outer and 1.5 inner actually, but they're out of stock on 1.5 inner.

Some shots of new shelf I put in down in the basement late last year. Glad that's done. Gee, where did all the new space go? Wife took the whole right side for cooking supplies.

My modest LD collection up there too inside Pampered Chef crates. They fit really nicely inside with about a half inch gap up top.

I can see the Indiana Laserdiscs they stick out like sore thumb. Red band on top now that looks like Criterion Collections. The plastic creates has given me an idea? I'll give it some thought maybe look on eBay see what their priced up at.

It's a wide shelf and you probably know the LD's fall over if they aren't bookended with something. The crates kind of hold them in place better and provide a divider. Each LD should stand perfectly vertical when it's full. I've pulled some out so not quite full on right.

Yeah, the Indian Jones are flawless copies too. Pristine condition. Wish my Back to the Future and Star Trek was better. I repurchased BTTF 1 and it's pristine. Need 2,3. Red Criterion is 2001. A little edge wear. Actually I wish sellers would take better pictures on eBay so I can see which ones not to buy. Getting back to Top Gun, a little off track, I found an AC3 local, just need the seller to get back. Only $6.00, looks like a nice copy.

$6.00 translate cheaper than I almost paid for it.

No issues with STAR TREK ntsc widescreen only one p&s is STAR TREK V, I'll get the widescreen edition sometime soon. My Wrath of Khan is spotless, same with all of them but its the most played.

At present only two Dolby AC-3 ones left.

I just snagged this and the earlier full screen release. Not really a fan but looking forward to comparing and cranking the ac3 track. Agreed that the art and package of the reissue is staggering and one of the best looking LD art jobs ever. If only they had just made the gatefold the rear image without text.

Its got some cracking bass that you may need to explore to get a suitable comfortable level in your room unless you already of course got that set-up.

Opening is cool with bass and high top end tapping away on stage left/right and few seconds later in the surrounds playing a differences in the music along with LFE.1 support in bass extra music beat and then as the 'TOP GUN' 1m.46s tile comes on screen centre goes active with a difference in the music on centre channel.

Jet fighters roar in-between some stage bass channels and extra more with LFE.1 along with music LFE.1 clever mix and at 3m.23s the F-14 roars the engines up I can feel it pressing on my body.

i got my copy of the very same edition about eight years back, around $10.00 shipped in a bundle with a pair of MGM/UA and PARAMOUNT demo LDs.

it's one of my benchmark LDs. here's an idea of how it looks via a 1988 PIONEER CLD-3030
and a 42in. LCD HDTV that has long since been superseded by a superior performing 46in. model;

Just bought the 3D Blu-ray for Top Gun, let's see how that one will work.

tasuke,

TOP GUN THX/LD looks smashing on your Samsung 46". Does the tv have any picture modes to show a bit more width as I use the (Just Scan) on my LG 38" flat LCD screen where the other picture modes tend to crop off small % of image. The colours hold up well with smoothness.

nah, i have all enhancements/DNR defeated as a standard practice.

everything seen is exculsively the source, via the monitor's own analog upscaling,
and the nominal CONTRAST/BRIGHTNESS/ETC. adjustments set to personal taste...

I, use onkyo TX-SR875 upscale that gives a better picture than direct to flat screen.
