confederate wrote: The Sony Test Disc ( MUSE ). That is the only disc that I still need in my colleciton.
Even though I have a MUSE capable player and the decoder I won't be spending more money on more discs. They are simply too expensive. However I would like to have this particular disc as it is a must have for every MUSE collector. 7-9 MUSE discs in my collection is enough. lol, I must be slightly crazy with 44 titles now! I totally agree that this disc is a 'must have' for Muse collectors. Without a doubt the three discs with the best picture quality in my collection are: 1) The Sony Test Disc - Not all scenes are equally as good. The best are of the woman having the make-over; the scenes taken from "Okinawa Underwater", and there are a couple of scenery shots from what looks like somewhere in Europe that are incredibly clear and detailed. 2) Okinawa Underwater - IMHO this is the best Muse disc as a whole. The picture quality is fantastic. I won't say as good as; but comparable to blu-ray (as are the shots noted above from the test disc). All underwater scenery set to music. It's actually very well done and more entertaining to watch than that sounds! 3) Kamui of the Okhotsk - Pretty much the same idea as "Okinawa Underwater". Not quite as well executed but still very good. These titles really show off what Muse was capable of. It's such a pity that the film transfer technology of the time means that the film titles just don't measure up, notwithstanding I still really enjoy watching some of those films of the era on Muse/Hi-Vision LD. You do actually notice with normal LD how by the late 90's the transfers had improved - no doubt as a response to DVD but too late for Hi-Vision LD. The format was really just too far ahead of it's time (and overpriced on LD) IMO. The test disc does come up from time to time on YJP, you just need to keep an eye out. FYI here's all the sales from there over about the last year: Title Price (Yen) Sale Date The Test Disc 17,051 23/10/2015 The Test Disc 14,600 20/11/2015 The Test Disc 13,700 18/12/2015 The Test Disc 7,750 10/4/2016 From memory the last copy was missing obi's/inserts hence the lower price. Happy Hunting!

MUSE looks better than any BD because it's ANALOGUE HD, infinitely better. I remember watching Hi Vision broadcasts at my then girlfriends house in Japan in the '90s. Was mind blowing and still hasn't been matched. The world has regressed in so many ways since the '90s, video technology being one example. samaron wrote: You can't register on Yahoo Auctions unless you have a Japanese bank account anyway. confederate wrote: My other titles ( Paris etc. ) look much worse. In my opinion, Paris doesn't even have a real HD-ish feeling. Yeah, I've seen comments on-line that a couple of those scenery discs look more like up-converted betacam. Of the video sourced titles I have there is variation in the PQ but all happily pass as HD. confederate wrote: I also like some of the test discs and I would like to have the Japanese imperial wedding disc, too, but I know they are very hard to find.
I managed to pick up a copy of that a little while ago and in fact the shipment including it just arrived earlier in the week. On the downside the seller didn't mention some of the 'teeth' in the center of the digi-pak had snapped out, and then the uneven force on the remaining ones caused a couple more to snap during shipping. However in every other way it's in really excellent condition. They were thoughtful enough to put the disc in an 'elephant condom' sleeve to prevent any rubbing damage with the lack of support from the missing teeth and I got it for a good price for a title that seems to be quite rare. So overall I'm happy. Think it's about the best PQ of the other scenery/documentary (video sourced) discs I have, and though I only know a handful of Japanese words it's pretty easy to follow what's happening. Still, if you want to show Muse off to friends then Okinawa Underwater is the way to go!!

For years now I'm searching the HK LD release of Cyclops aka The Unborn. For this movie I would spend more money than for all of my other LD purchases. At this moment I think I'll never get it, but if there is somebody out there with this disc, please drop me a message. My hard earned money is waiting for you and I want to give the movie a good home between the VHS and VCD releases
