Orion Pictures had a good run that is nicely framed within the laserdisc era.

What are some of your favorites?

ORION makes me instantly think of:

- Silence of the Lambs, The (1991) [ID7434OR]
- Robocop (1987) [ID5168]
- Dances with Wolves (1990) [ID8322OR]

There was probably a lot more...

I see that "THE TERMINATOR" isn't listed must be something to do with studio? As the opening of the film has the Orion intro then Pacific.

I see though the database it has many distributor -publihser releases. HBO / Gaumont Columbia Tri-Star / Pioneer LDC / Multigram / TF1 Video and on and on...

What was the simple reason for this not that I'm bothered.

I'm sure of the top of my head, only pressing of "Robocop 2" I have is the P/S That is fine crisp transfer with no issues.

Robocop 2 (1990) [ID8014OR]

For some reason if I made pictures I've always wanted to bring Orion back. Anyway what film(s) bankrupt the company? UHF?

Robocop 3 (1993) [ID2671OR] Robocop 3 went grossly over budget and made no money, which helped to ruin the studio. It also soured Frank Miller on Hollywood for over almost a decade, until the went back and worked on Sin City. It also ruined the career of Director Fred Dekker, who has not directed a movie since. The whole situation bums me out, because Robocop is my favourite movie, and I loved Orion Pictures, and to think that a sequel to one of my favourite movies helped ruin the studio is such a downer.

On a side note, other than the movies already mentioned, I have to go for Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure as one of my favourite Orion films.

I enjoy the Abominable Dr. Phibes, The/Dr. Phibes Rises Again [ID3077OR] Disc,
I also have Last Man On Earth, The/Panic in Year Zero [ID6113OR]

I'd like to spin up Dances with Wolves one day to listen to the great John Barry's score.

The Purple Rose of Cairo is really great. Probably the best film by Woody Allen and the only one of his I've seen where he ain't got a role.

My pick is:
Platoon
No Man's Land

Two Charlie Sheen films - everyone remembers Platoon but hardly anyone remembers No Man's Land from the same year 1987. It's one of his best movies too with a fantastic Basil Poledouris synthesized soundtrack.

Thanks for the recommendation for No Man's Land. I'm definitely going to check it out.
