Admittedly it would have Japanese subtitles but they're apparently out of picture I have that boxset now, and all I get is the American soundtrack that is featured on the ID2594OR release. I tried to swap between Digital Stereo, Digital -R, Digital -L, Analog Stereo, Analog -R and Analog -L. But they were all the same soundtrack with no difference, just the American soundtrack in mono To make sure, I compared with the DVD-release that has the Australien soundtrack, and it confirmed the difference between them. Apperently, Japan choosed the dubbed version...

I haven't seen the entire film on Laserdisc but I remember it looked decent. The colors are kind of weak and sometimes feel a bit washed out. Damages are visible but not irritating. The level of noise on the other hand was quite low from what I remember but it did have a soft look.
Speaking of Tarkovsky and picture quality, I've seen all of Tarkovsky's films and even Solaris, Mirror and Offret on the big screen. When I saw Solaris, the print was in very bad shape and it even got stuck in the projector once. It looked like a DVD or worse, damages all over the screen and very little detail. Mirror had slightly faded colors in some scenes, but it looked WAY better than any of the DVD releases of the film. And I've seen Offret twice on the big screen, once on 35mm and once on DCP. The 35mm copy was from a restoration, made in 2002 or 2003 by SFI. Very fine detail and color balance (as well as a nice print), but the DCP was a step better in every way.

That actually didn't get released to video until 1999 if I'm not mistaken. By that time, Disney had all but abandoned LD save for a few titles in Japan and Hong Kong. Also makes me wonder why they never released The Fox and the Hound to LD in the US. It was first released to VHS in like 1992 or 93 I believe, but not to LD at that time. For whatever reason it was released to LD in Hong Kong (presumably in the early 90s as well) and Japan in 2000 (neither have the original English soundtrack): http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/33856/PIL ... -The-(1981) http://www.lddb.com/laserdisc/43306/H18 ... -The-(1981)

1.) Spirited away 2.) Battle Royale: well I bet this would be a Japanese only release, but I thought it would be interesting to see such a release. 3.) Rest of X-files series: I think they should kept the format alive just to release the last seasons of this TV series. That's all I can think of as of right now. Have a nice day!

Caution! stacking electronics using laser ontop amplifiers which generates massive heat will eventually kill the laser how long did you have these stuff piled ontop of each other? best thing is to change the setup ASAP!
