Can anyone confirm which U.S. release of The Sound of Music on Laserdisc had the Robert Wise approved desaturated color palette? Apparently Wise wanted this look originally, but was vetoed by the studio. Future home video releases used the warmer studio color grading, meaning DVD and Blu-ray. Actually, I am not sure if the Wise approved coloring ever made it to DVD.

These 2 have a note on the back cover saying that transfer was supervised by Robert Wise:

Sound of Music, The: 30th Anniversary Edition (1965) [4267-85] (THX/Surround/1994)
Sound of Music, The (1965) [0897285] (THX/AC3/1996)

A possible start?

Yes, thanks.
I am wondering if they are the same transfer, but I'd lean toward the 1996 release, because 1995 stands out to me for when Wise did that transfer, though I'm not certain of that.

The one positive is that both copies are not very expensive. So you could always pickup both copies and check them out to see if they
have what you need.

I don't own or have either to sell.
Hopefully someone who owns them can comment about the pressings.
