The only set of laserdiscs that I would've loved to have seen in Hi-Vision are the Original Star Wars Trilogy. I can only imagine how much it would cost nowadays.

I am impressed by the selection of hi vision titles. There are only 31 films but little bit of everything. Compare that to first 30-50 releases of dvd, bluray and uhd you will know what i mean.

You have an epic like lawrence, a sci fi epic like encounters, a super classic like tiffanys, mega blockbusters bttf and t2, chick flix like river runs tru. It is a great selection for 1992-1997.

What else? Probably blade runner, 2001, batman 1989, and alien. If hi vision kept on, these would have been next as these all had early releases with every format.

afaik most. if not all of the film transfers for Muse discs were still basic telecine and clearly some from prints (you can see the reel change markers on Lawrence of Arabia).

While agreeing with Star Wars particularly (had that thought before!) what I wish mostly is that the transfers had been up to the full quality potential of Muse LD. In this regard the format was something of a victim of being ahead of it's time. As noted in other threads it's the demo/doco type discs shot on HD video that show the full potential of the format.

Unless I counted wrong there's 33 movie titles (I don't include Atlantis in that).

If I had the system I really wish my favorite would have been release.

You're joking right? There's a good reason that thing sent Carolco broke!

Isn't that because the demo/docs are played in CAV mode while the films are in basic CLV?

No.

The demo/doc titles are a mix of CLV/CAV and though I've never bothered checking titles that closely I think there's going to be film releases with CAV third sides just like NTSC.

Even if CLV vs CAV makes any real PQ difference with Muse it's pretty minimal and not at all relevant to what I'm saying above. Any PQ difference there might be due to this is massively outweighed by other factors (eg: quality of source material and encoding).

The 1:33 Open matte of "Lara Croft Tomb raider (2001)" on Laserdisc/Hi Laserdisc could have been the Holly Grail

Then it would have been windowboxed since HiVision is widescreen by nature :-)

I would have loved some 2001, Indiana Jones (were remastered at the same time as BTTF, would have been awesome!), Jaws, Heat, The Fugitive (was remastered for Squeeze release), The Nightmare Before Christmas, Die Hard Trilogy, Alien, Shining, Full Metal Jacket, Blade Runner, The Untouchables, Amadeus, Blues Brothers...
