Just wondering if anyone has done a comparison on the DVD and Blu-ray compared to the LD ?

I am hearing that the Blu-ray suffers from a terrible audio issue, where it has been mastered too low, so to hear the dialogue you have to crank up the volume.

There is a german blu-ray which apparently does not have the audio issue.

I've got the Laserdisc laying around here somewhere. Want me to have a look at it?

The Blu-Ray is sourced from a very old master, pretty sub-mediocre for the most part. The UK DVD however is terrible.

My first impression was that the film looks like a Techniscope production but it was supposedly shot in Panavision.

That would be appreciated if you could.

I am curious about the LD, because it is very cheap to pick up.

Appreciate the blu-ray picture quality will be the best even from an old master, but I am curious about how the sound is on LD, as the new formats have mastered the sound poorly, with the german blu-ray being an improvement.

Good grief! The DVD is appalling!
