I recently acquired a Mitsubishi M-V6021. It's obviously a Pioneer clone, but I can't find a 'perfect' match for it. The player that seems to most closely match it is the CLD-2090. I have someone who is interested in this player but ONLY if it's a CLD-2090 clone. Is that indeed the case or am I just a nut for thinking so? If it's not a 2090 clone, then what player did Mitsubishi derive this one from?

The differences: Slightly different button layout on front panel (and the mitsubishi has a 'soft' button the pioneer does not have) , different case color (appears to be Mitsubishi's 'unique' slate gray from the late 80s/early 90s), different LED colors, and the mitsubishi is missing the CD synchro and control i/o on the back panel

The similarities: Same tray design, same basic layout for front controls (jog dial, tray and 'info screen'), almost the same buttons (just in a different layout), same layout/design for rear outputs side changer and transit screw hole.

the MITSUBISHI M-V7010 is a direct clone of PIONEER's 1989 CLD-2070, right down to the remote;

I think you got it right, but really I don't know why someone would be fixed on a 2090...

The Mitsubishi M-V6021 is definitely a clone of the Pioneer CLD-2090 with the exception that the Pioneer SR Control and CD Deck Synchro jacks are removed from the Mits since they are proprietary to Pioneer devices.

I also own a Pro-Scan, PS-LD43 that is also a 2090 clone with other minor differences as well (e.g.: different remote control IR coding and 16x9 button on remote and front panel that is supposedly design to control a Pro-Scan widescreen TV to change aspect ratio through the S-Video jack).
