Get Pioneer part number VWV1413 digital out board. It has the jack already mounted on the board and just requires the digital in signal, 5 volts and ground...

I think it can be an optical out as well.... The DVD player can be connected to a coaxial input :)

@ NlLaserdiscNL: Hi, I´m curious, what about the pure video output you mentioned half a year ago ? This sounds like a very interresting mod!

Any news so far with the video output?

Hey guys, I'm sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I've been meaning to add an optical output on my CLD-s315 and happened upon this now.

First of all, Merry Christmas / Happy Holidays to you all! :)

I'm a bit confused as to what is required for simply adding optical out... (I don't need DTS/Dolby)

I don't have a background in electronics and I've seen you guys mention all kinds of bits and pieces that are required.

First, edwin240170 mentioned the following was required:

1) at pin1 of the optical output (Vin) solder a capacitor of 100n
2) at the end of the capacitor solder a resistor of 270ohm in series
3) at the end of the 270ohm resistor solder 2 items:
a) a 100ohm resister and connect the other end to GND (pin 3 of the optical output)
b) a cinch output plug (= digital electrical signal) + do not forget to connect sheelding of the connector to GND.

Later, he mentioned resistors R895 / R896 (1k / 1.5k) were required.

Then out of seemingly nowhere, "Guest" mentioned that he stuck a 22uF behind the optical connector, which got things working for him. Later he mentioned, "cap behind it to cover the 6,3 volt max peak @ 100 uF." Is this something else, or was this the result of adding the 22uF cap?

Anyway, I've been adding all the parts to my cart on Distrelec and this is what I have, so far:

SMD Electrolytic Capacitor, 22uF, 450V, 20%
Ceramic Capacitor, 100nF, 50V, 10%
Resistor 250mW 1kOhm 0.1 %
Resistor 500mW 1.5kOhm 5 %
Resistor 500mW 270Ohm 5 %
Resistor 400mW 100Ohm 1 %

I've also separately ordered a OTJ-1 (FCR6842031T) optical connector from Amazon FR, which looks like it would fit into the board nicely.

Does this sound right to you guys? I'll be getting a friend who knows this sort of stuff better than I do to do it for me. He's very limited with time, so I try not to bother him much, which is why I would rather get the parts all ready for him first, rather than have him sit down and look over all of this with me.

Thanks for your time!

I would just approach this is in a more simplistic way.

Order this part (hopefully it's available in Portugal).....

https://www.ebay.com/itm/CDROM-car-navi ... 3774426627

....and then just connect the provided coax wire to pin 43 of IC-802 (find a point that makes continuity w/ pin 43; going directly would be difficult to solder) and the black/red wire to the appropriate GND and +5v power point.

I plan on using this kit when I get around to modifying my CLD-M90.

+1

I was looking for a board like that to link since I have seen people use them before. Are there any others in the event that those sell out?

I have seen other styles but they have not met my need for something somewhat small and provides both the coax and optical output. As for this particular kit, I have had it saved on my ebay searches forever so I don't think it's going away anytime soon.

Also, I will admit this kit was a bit of a stumper for me in respect to how to install it as I had searched forever for some kind of mounting system for it. In addition, I don't like the look of the RCA jack provided as I think it sticks out too much and I prefer the one's I have used in the past. Thus, I decided to do two things.

1) I am going to remove the RCA jack and run a coax cable from the board to a different RCA jack of my own preferred location on the back panel.

2) Since I have to mount the optical output as is w/ the board hanging from it, I am going to change the optical output to this version that has a screw hole attached to it.....

https://www.ebay.com/itm/Toslink-Fiber- ... xy6~BR0dJE

This will mean the optical jack basically supports the board but I don't think that will be an issue and I'll make sure there is enough strain relief so no wires are pulling on the board and causing stress. Problem solved in respect that I don't need any additional support structure .

Thanks for the reply! Is it really that simple? Has anyone already tried this on their players? I'm not a fan of buying things from China, but if there are no other easy options, I may just have to go for it.

kris confirmed it on this posting....

[LD-V4400]

Definitely way simpler than piecing it together piece by piece as you are thinking of doing. This board basically has all those parts you need to make it work. Just need to tap the DSP chip to get a signal to it.

Sorry to resurrect this again, but shortly after I got the optical board from ebay, things got... complicated. (pandemic)

So only today did I open up my CLD-s315 and I'm not sure this mod will work for me. It seems my 315 is missing this IC802 that everyone is talking about. :/

I took 2 photos of the board, one near where I saw everyone connecting the toslink jack and one where the IC802 should be?

Am I doomed to mod this player? :(

Unplug your player, pull board and flip it.

Yup...the chip is on the other side of the board since it is a surface mount IC.

Just the same with my CLD-M90 I just modded...

Many thanks guys!

Now I need to figure out just how I'm going to do that... lol. My brother will be over for lunch today, so I'll have a look at it with him. He's better than I am at these things. :)

Hey guys,

Just wanted to let you all know that my brother and I managed to successfully mod the player. Works like a charm!

Many thanks, once again, to all those that helped make this happen. :)
