If you want to add this to the manuals, here's a scan of the CLD-R7G manual (from Pioneer's Japanese website--so it's in Japanese):

As far as other LD players, Pioneer Japan's site still has a few manuals available for download:

CLD-R5

DVK-1000 (DVD/LD Karaoke player)

DVK-900 (DVD/LD Karaoke player)

DVL-9 (DVD/LD combo--Japanese equivalent to DVL-700)

DVL-909

DVL-919

DVL-H9

DVL-K88

Who knows how much longer those will be up there now that Pioneer has discontinued them, so it might be worthwhile to log them now.

Thanks for the URLs, downloading right now (good, I can get rid of my CLD-R5 xerox'ed copies!).

Will be added to the usual repository.

Here is the english/french manual for the Pioneer DVL-V888 and CLD-V2800 (http://www.mediafire.com/?f1hsbjl9xyahs). Is the DVL-V888 the same as DVL-K88?V

I believe so. Some of the articles that reported that the DVL-K88 was among the last LD players before Pioneer ceased production of LD players also said that it was the same machine as a DVL-V888.

I would be interested in this as I am having some U1 issues (clamping error). The tray fully accepts the Laserdisc it is only when the disc is being raised in the unit that I have this problem. I have already changed the loading belt for a new one so I think its to do with the plastic cogs and the sliders. The belt slips on the small motor drive, the white cogs stop turning and it sounds like a motor is stuck. The moment I push the large belt wheel( there is a small resistance), the cogs move, sliders raise a little more and the disc engages and starts spinning up. I also think that disc weight may have something to do with this as removing the whole disc tray, this issue only occurs in about 1 in 10 times.
Any thoughts or guidance would be appreciated as i know pioneers are reknowned for loading issues and I believe its not only aimed at the Pioneer CLD-D925.

Regards
Paul

First thing to do is make sure the loading belt is new and the gear pully is clean of grease!
It's almost every time this problem!

If the above fails....

Get a service manual on ebay.
There are a few screwes inside the loading mechanism that can be adjusted. It can be moved from left to right by adjusting these screws. it's probably the whole loading mechanism that is out of center with the top disc clamper. Only adjust this when a new belt and cleaning do not help! It simply is out of center with the top clamp mechanism. that's why the mechanism does not lift the disc once in a while. It jams on the clamp above! spend some time on watching the mechanism work ! Soon you see how it all works... it's basic mechanics

Never touch any of the adjustment screws for laser! then it's all over without the proper test disc and remote!

I own several 925 players and managed to service every one of them. bought several "broken " players and serviced them with some new parts and a belt. They are all up and running for some years now.
every single time it's a mechanical failure that is dead cheap in spare part.

I have several spare parts new and second hand for 925 and 909 players.
Depending on your country there is a good chance that spare parts are available for your 925 players. Get yourself a motor holder for sure as a spare ref.: VNL1700
they are very cheap and often fail after years of use.

Hope this helps

Good luck
Kris

Hi Kris, as it happens, I now have the service manual and ordered a new belt from SEME Nedis pioneers official parts stockist. I have now watched about 20 Laserdiscs with no issues at all. I am over the moon that it has been fixed and to think for the 15 years i have had this player that it was only a belt causing the issue. Just goes to show that pioneer laserdisc players are true outright quality products. :)

I also have a U.S. DVL 909 to which I keep on standby now. I also have parts for a CLD515 and i didnt realise that the loader / slider and optics were the same all in one mechanism as the one installed on the 925.

If anyone needs one for a Marantz LV 510 (which I'm pretty sure is a rebadged Pioneer by the looks of it), I'll be more than happy to scan it all in.

I found a site that has free manuals....in pdf too. Some of these Julien already has, but some not.

Just enter pioneer for the brand, then click on blue Pioneer from the choices, and then enter cld for the reference. Scroll down and there's about 20 manuals they have, and click on each one to get it.

I've sent Julien which he has uploaded, 2 colour cataloges. One for the Pioneer cld-1030 and the other has Pioneer cld- 1070, 2070 and 3070 models. It also has a LD-870 which was a analog sound output only player. (no digital sound output at all)

There in the LD manuals section, and quite interesting read.

Haven't heard from him in a while too (was discussing player-related things when I was coding some of the still-unfinished player section).

"Last updated 1st Nov 2007" doesn't sound too good. And the main LD-S9 pic points to "file:///C:/FRONTPAGE%20WEBS/Content/Copy%20of%20dvdlaserdiscuk/pioneer_ld-s9.gif" and was never fixed...

Just sent him an Email for probing/confirmation.

Julien

Julien,

may be you have already had the same idea before (or tried before), would be nice to integrate this site into LDDB,
as you are right the last update timing does not sound good, of cause do not know if the owner and you would agree to this?

I have service manuals for the following Laserdisc players;
HLD X9, CLD 97, CLD 99, DVL 91 and possibly another but cannot remember.

I shall also be trying to get hold of service manuals for other players such as;
CLD 925, DVL 909, 919, at some stage.

Sincere regards

:)

Are these going to be posted along with the regular "user manuals" in the manual section of this site? I have the CLD-97 user manual pdf but would like to look at the service manual as well! :)

You may want to send these to Julien so he can post them.

Hi invenio,

I will do in time but right now I do not have the means to tranfer them, when I do I will carry this out.

It's a long story about my home needing to be finished and so on.

They are all brand new and well stored.

Thank you for the advice

Regards
:)

Can you tell me where you obtained this service manual from?
Was it Pioneer Japan and if so is the text in Japanese only?

I would like to obtain this (ideally in English) so I can order up the most common spares I will need for my HLD-X9.

Thanks,
Colin

It is only written in Japanese. For the parts pages you can figure it out from the diagrams.

After a bit of surfing I found what appears to be the part number for the Pioneer HLD-X9 service manual:
http://parts.pioneerelectronics.com/par ... SMD96-258B

It seems Pioneer US may only allow retail consumers within the US to create an account and order parts from that site.
Does anyone know if that is the case?

If so are there any US volunteers who could purchase this for me and I will reimburse you all expenses incurred (via paypal etc) including shipping if it can actually be got!
I might even throw in a few laserdiscs!!!

I ordered one just to see what happens. If I get it it will cost me $40.75 once you add Shipping, handling, & tax.

Thanks - if it turns up just let me know and I will reimburse you all expenses. Also feel free to make a copy for yourself as it is probably a useful one to have.

It will be interesting to see what parts are still actually available for the HLD-X9. The general concensus from searching the internet forums seems to be no parts are available for HLD-X0. There seem to have only been about 4500 HLD-X0 players ever produced. Not sure how many HLD-X9's were manufactured but it did have a much longer production run from 1996 - 2002 and was always the more popular choice due to price and features. I also think with it being the last ever high end laserdisc player manufactured there was probably quite a bit of speculative stockpiling as a future investment to sell when the conditions are just right. I am not sure that was necessarily a wise move, as the capabilities of electronic hardware are continually advancing so will go out of date very quickly. The fact the advanced comb filter that came in the HLD-X9 is easily surpassed by even the most basic filter in a modern DVD player illustrates this point.
