Should we pool all of our PDFs/scans somewhere on LDDb for everyone to browse?

Pioneer website used to have a few a while ago, I saved them here.

Still have paper versions of CLD-R5, LD-S9 and HLD-X9 that I should scan next time I have a chance.

Julien

... cause it would be nice to have a pre-existing pool of manuals to add to the players interface when ready

I have a CLD-97 manual for my player - when/if I get the time to scan it, I will e-mail it to you Julien (since I assume I can't upload directly).

This sounds like a great idea, making LDDB the one-stop shop for all things laser.

I have 2950, 925 and 909 manuals if you need them. I know that they are common but they are at your disposal if required!

I would be interested in this as I am having some U1 issues (clamping error). The tray fully accepts the Laserdisc it is only when the disc is being raised in the unit that I have this problem. I have already changed the loading belt for a new one so I think its to do with the plastic cogs and the sliders. The belt slips on the small motor drive, the white cogs stop turning and it sounds like a motor is stuck. The moment I push the large belt wheel( there is a small resistance), the cogs move, sliders raise a little more and the disc engages and starts spinning up. I also think that disc weight may have something to do with this as removing the whole disc tray, this issue only occurs in about 1 in 10 times.
Any thoughts or guidance would be appreciated as i know pioneers are reknowned for loading issues and I believe its not only aimed at the Pioneer CLD-D925.

Regards
Paul

Did you also clean the gear on the motor? It can get residue on it and cause a new belt to slip.

Hi, I removed all the cogs and cleaned them, the motor/drive gear was cleaned to a degree, what would you suggest to remove any further rubber deposits?

Can you perhaps get some from the Laserdisc UK website? They seem to have some available in PDF already, but it seems that site is basically unattended right now because I sent email to buy one and never got a reply.

Haven't heard from him in a while too (was discussing player-related things when I was coding some of the still-unfinished player section).

"Last updated 1st Nov 2007" doesn't sound too good. And the main LD-S9 pic points to "file:///C:/FRONTPAGE%20WEBS/Content/Copy%20of%20dvdlaserdiscuk/pioneer_ld-s9.gif" and was never fixed...

Just sent him an Email for probing/confirmation.

I used to use gasoline in my younger carefree days, but now I use one of two things:

Nail polish remover, if the material needing cleaning can stand up to it, or...

WD-40 or similar type of lightweight lube/penetrant. Sounds odd I know but what you have to do is use the lightweight petroleum based product to free up the goo or gunk, and then after wiping it away, you need another cleaner to get the lightweight stuff off completely, like an alcohol based cleaner.

Nothing cleans heavy oils and such away like lighter oils, and that's why you can use lard or trans fluid, etc, to clean grease off your hands, then good soap to finish the job.

Standing by on PDF pooling...
rixrex nailed it.
Must use lightweight oil based product to cut grease.....
Then attack with simpler means...alcohol,soap....
Any type mechanic will concur ....

In case anyone downloaded the Pioneer CLD-97 manual I scanned previously, I sent Julien a much cleaner scan which he has already uploaded.

I've sent Julien manuals for the Pioneer cld-3030 and cld-1030 and I also sent a parts diagrams (with part numbers) for the cld-3030 from my service manual.
There's 2 service manuals for the 3030 (I have both) the one is over 90 pages with some fold out large pages. (so just did the parts) But if anyone needs a specific page from it just let me know.

EDIT
I just sent Julien scans of the instruction page for the Pioneer J-L20 LD single adapter that you use with older players when playing the thin 8" type laserdiscs. It's in Japanese, but has diagrams and lists player model numbers that need the adapter. If yours is a USA player you can usually match up the Japan equivalent model.

Scans of Laserdisc player reviews would be interesting as well.
