Condition, maintenance history, and the presence of the original remote are important. $80-400 depending on these things.

A few years ago I got a mint (seriously) 99 for about $340 I think. No box but I got the manual and remote.

My input is some of these are fine and others myself or grasshopper make a few hundred repairing. Only pay top dollar for a guaranteed unit

Watch out one of those is missing the wood side panels and the seller tries to hide it with trick close ups....

Curious as to what the missing side panels mean? I bought one with the missing panels and unit seems to work fine, but only had it a month though. Although one day I heard something rattle around when I moved it. Took the top cover off and found two loose caps (see picture).

Those are commonly the decoupling caps for the audio output. They are higher quality for audio use.

The side panels are purely cosmetic, although it's possible that if they are damaged it's because the unit was handled roughly.
Like an obi strip, it's something that doesn't actually do anything, but is considered to affect the collector value.

Any idea why they would be loose? Do you think they were replaced and the old caps were just left inside?

Do you get audio out of the RCA right/left racks? These missing do not affect the digital outputs or AC-3 output. If they did an audio modification these could have been replaced.

This really means your player is NOT complete and since its missing something, well then its missing parts and not complete.

If he has capacitors rolling around inside I’d say missing panels were the least of his worries.
