Don't know much about the LD-V8000 but were they not sturdy solid units well built, on the link to the sales literature (thanks for that :thumbup: ) they do look cool & at the price can you go wrong?

They're good sturdy players, a bit harder to work on than most though.

I think if the video output and/or deemphasis circuits were cleaned up to reduce ringing it'd be on par with an S2 (i.e. damn good)

The output is so-so, the player is very feature poor, but other than they are durable enough to outlast stupidity itself.

It does have one special feature - it is (one of the?) only player(s) that shows the entire frame (not just one field) in CLV freeze frame.
