I cannot find a clear topic about that....

Any player with either an Optical or Coax Digital Out connection can be used for DTS LD playback.

Really ? Then, for exemple, even a LD-S2 (LD-X1) can do it ?

Yes. Even many players that predate DTS.

That's a very interresting thing to know, because, at the rear of Jurassic Park : lost world, it is written that :
from 1998/09,
- HIL-C1
- HIL-C2EX
- MDP-VXXX series
- HLD-1000
- HLD-X0
- LX-HD10
- LX-HD20
- LX-H670
- And All the machines without digital out.
Cannot play this movie audio in DTS...

Yeah, it seems. But HLD-X9 isn't in the list... Lost World released after HLD-X9...

Is this list of players on the OBI, or printed on the jacket itself?

It seems to be on all of the Japanese DTS titles. I don't have any of the players listed so I don't have any way to check (my MUSE player is the X9). Odd that these specific players, which have optical outputs, can't play the DTS track.

You wish or you hope it will play without problems???

My CLD-3070 played DTS wonderfully when I had discs and a surround setup.
So there are many players with that toslink to play DTS.
Good luck with the 959.

Does anyone have the players listed above and can test DTS playback? I'm wondering if they have some kind of PCM processing which causes issues with the DTS track.

I assume they wouldn’t play DTS CDs either in that case.

I am curious as to the “why”.

Maybe there is some extremely minor thing that technically makes them not %100 compatable. I don’t know what that could be though since DTS doesn’t have a lot of features and no adjustments on LD at all.

Also, maybe older DTS decoders weren’t as good as handling the signal as the new stuff?

And Philips CDV 185 is the only 5" cdv player that has a digital output and can play dts cd as well that way (until Publius comes up with the modded Yamaha CDV S100 or M777).
