I guess I'm a newbie in respect that I have never heard of this issue in all the years I have been into LaserDisc (dating back to 1988). Also, in those years of dealing w/ my nine players (used to be thirteen), I have had the pleasure to fix and maintain all of them for various issues from broken plastic parts, belt changes, lubrication, electrical adjustments, and cold solder joints (nothing really serious thank goodness). Also, I performed many AC-3 mods.
So in respect to this motor holder, is there a reason it's not possible to simply glue it back together and then reinforce it w/ something like plastic sheet? I had a different problem w/ my CLD-3030 in which the spring pivot on the door snapped (it is always under a lot of stress). I had it glued back the first time w/ no special reinforcements and of course it broke again within a week. On the 2nd try, I glued it again but then applied strips of plastruct sheet to literally surround the breakage and it has been great ever since (going four months now with no issues).
Anyway, I'm just curious but also a bit concerned since I do own a CLD-59 that has this motor holder as well.
Thanks,
Dave

I've got some bad news however... First is that my teacher, who let me do this project, actually got fired. Our new teacher didn't tolerate individual projects and thus I had to put my plans aside. Second is that I got a employed in a completely different industry and quit School. So it seems like I won't be able to recreate the M-holder for you guys. Sorry that I haven't kept you updated, but if anyone got inspired by my original idea please feel free to try it out yourself. I'd be happy to see your results.
