particle wrote: My only player at the moment is a Pioneer CLD-D406 manufactured in 1996. It is a no-frills unit except for both side play, a feature I enjoy when I watch movies. Changing discs late into a long movie is fine, but it's convenient to not have to flip the disc 50-55 minutes in since I'm often having my evening meal at that point. Image quality is good and looks every bit as nice as DVD. It may not be high definition, but it's enjoyable nonetheless. An update: I purchased a Panasonic LX-1000U some time last year after having purchased the D406. It has become my primary player, but unfortunately it has what I assume to be an alignment issue that starts to manifest itself about half way through a disc with progressively severe dropouts as it gets toward the edge. Picture quality is notably better than the D406, however, especially during light colored scenes like outdoor snow or indoor white room shots. I'm changing my poll vote from Pioneer to Panasonic.

Since my last post on this thread, I acquired a Pioneer CLD-D406 which has composite video, baseband audio, digital audio and AC-3 outputs.

Pioneer DVL-919E Pioneer LD-S1 Pioneer LD-S2/X1 with RF out Pioneer HLD-X0 Pioneer HLD-X9
McIntosh MLD-7020 (Pioneer CLD-97 clone)
Denon LA-3500 (Panasonic LX-900U clone) SOLD! I've got both those units too (LD-S1 & LD-S2) That's a whole lot of weight you're putting on top of that LD-S2 substance!! Is that safe???

I bought a DVL-91, LDD-1, and ~250 titles in my first batch, in DC. Found out how lucrative lot busting was!
I go to DC often to grab lots and such - must have been a good dealer there.
I was given, with lots, DVL-909, CLD-D604, CLD-D503, Panasonic LX-K780, and bought a DVL-700 for $10. Got a great deal on a HLD-X9, bought a VP-1000 for throw away money. (I liked the treated metal panel on the 909 much better than the shiny Elite.)
Fell in love with the little, maligned 700. Sold the 91, 909, 604, 503, and got a promise on the X9. VP-1000 is for sale.
The Panasonic is in bedroom with in a small system with only analog (DAC) outs, 1000 in living room and DVL-700 is main player.
I sure could use a manual PDF for the Panasonic LX-K780, or even just an authoritative remote number (or group series that would work) so I could look for one.
