It was a long overdue "work in progress" but I finished updating my old eBay guide to make a Help/AC3RF section on LDDb:

 http://www.lddb.com/help_ac3rf.php

I still need to make fresh APD-1 and RFD-1 pictures but could you double-check my writing for typos/errors?

Next update would be to add a "Soundtracks" help section to explain the difference between analog, analog-CX, digital, multi-audio, AC3, DTS, etc.

Julien

Hi Julien,

Great Idea! Sent a word doc via the site 'webmaster' email with track changes/comments for a few suggestions after some initial read-throughs.

Hope you find at least some of them useful!

Well received, will take a look and update the mistakes/improvements tomorrow.

Thank you!

Julien, thanks for the FAQ!

I wrote an article some time ago: "Why laserdisc soundtracks are better…" - maybe someone could find it userful: https://forum.fanres.com/thread-1107.html

Quick Question ,
Has there been a Soundcard + Software alternative to a ac-3 demodulator for RF?

Nope. And probably because it was never envisioned as something someone would do since we’re talking about introducing a new sound format to a Home Theater and not a PC.

You can always just get an RF Demodulator and pipe that output into your PC but I assume the reason you asked is to avoid spending a lot on getting one.

You could demodulate the the captured RF signal with software if you really wanted to, but not in real-time.
