Good day tomrlee_m998 Topic review - Meridian 519 digital input and output I have 2 x 519's and one of them is connected to my HLD X9, which is connected to my Lexicon MC12B (2008 upgraded version) and it works perfectly well in my setup. I love the build quality of this unit. Regards to you

Thanks guys for all your input. I have 4 of this unit Two of them are 240V and the rest is on 120V. When RF is fed into this unit the output AC-3 stream is treated well by the receiver. But yamaha 5940 is a generic model which does not accept any sort of processed digital input from what I can see at this stage. When I tried my B&K DT-1, which does not do any jitter reduction, the 5940 works like a happy boy with the digital input. For sure, 519 is a good quality demodulator and that is the reason why I came across 4 of them. If I could grab a lexicon something I would never worry about the issue I found on 5940. Money talks this time

Good day tomrlee_m998, You are welcome sir, I have the Lex LDD1 RF demod as well but haven't got round to connecting this yet. Most of us members have gone through many challenges to get all we have and so feel confident knowing that you are understood amongst the many of us here. Regards to you

Regards to you That Lexicon is the first AC-3 demodulator, designed and made by MSB, first as a prototype for Dolby and then into an actual product for Lexicon. I think it's the only one to have the ability to compensate for the different AC-3 RF levels various players output.

Good day herb_vogel, 1) Lexicon LDD1 RF Demodulator 2) Meridian 519 RF Demodulator I would say are the best built however, all Demodulator's essentially have the same chips inside, so any other internal refinements or adjustability i.e. The Lex offers the little more flexability for different players. I shall be checking this at some stage when I connect mine. Kind Regards to you.

They all the same job, convert the ac3 rf signal to digital....you are not going to hear any difference between models as it is a digital conversion.
I have pioneer rfd-1 and it's perfect, I can capture ac3 and dts bit perfect on my pc using a audiophile 2496 pci card.
The only difference between models is the ability of some to connect more than one input., ie dts on toslink and ac3 via coax and autoswitch between them so you only use 1 input on your avr.
I capture the streams via coax and the toslink sends the stream to my avr at the same time...I see no loss of data... the captured file when sent via spdif from pc to avr is recognised as dts/DD and plays perfectly indicating DTS or DD on the avr display.
I have no experience of the meridian but it maybe an avr issue.
