Hi Everyone,
I am in the process of really wanting to learn how to rip the AC3, Digital PCM and DTS tracks from my LD's to add to some of my Blu-rays with less then stellar Blu-ray audio, I know it seems strange but some of these BD's have terrible audio and the LD still has the preferred tracks, from all I have been reading so far it seems you only use the RF Demodulator for ripping the AC3 files, so what is needed for the other 2, PCM and DTS? also which RF Demodulator should I look for? sometimes there are plenty on Ebay and sometimes like now not so much.

I have a Windows 7 Pro 64-Bit system with plenty of RAM @ 16 GB's and my Sound Card is this,
Creative 70SB088000004 7.1 Channels 24-bit 96KHz PCI Express 1x Interface PCI Express Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium
my LaserDisc Player is a Pioneer CLD-79 Elite, I have searched and searched for some kind of guide but keep finding nothing lol, so I will try asking here.

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

For ac-3 you need rf demodulator. Buy cheapest you can find they are all the same quality.
dts and pcm you dont need anything.

you will need a sound card with digital coax or optical input.

Thank you, it looks like my card has a digital input and my Player has optical out but what software do you use to get bit perfect rips for PCM and DTS?

also I do not have digital coax on my sound card, will I need this for ac3 ripping or just need it from Player to RF Demodulator and then what is used from Demodulator to sound card optical or should I get a new card?

Thank you very much for your response

Depends on the rf demodulator. My lexicon ldd1 only has digital coax out. I know some out there has both digital coax and optical. You can use optical if you pick up one with optical out.
I dont know much about sw part.

To capture audio along video, I use VirtualDub; if your audio card is bit-perfect (and probably it is) you could capture PCM and DTS audio that will be the same, bit by bit, of the laserdisc soundtrack - but they will be 44.1KHz, so if you want to make DVD/BD/AVCHD you should upconvert it to 48KHz.

For AC3, you need an RF demodulator, and the resulting capture will be 48KHz, so no upconversion is needed.

I've done several for my project, and sometimes results are astonishing - for example, it's the only way to obtain the Alien 70mm soundtrack!
