Post subject:  Yamaha DDP1 problem

Have a Yamaha DDP1 decoder that I use as a demodulator for my Yamaha laserdisc player. Works perfect this way with the RF hooked up to the RF input. It also has two other inputs for DD (coaxial and optical). The problem is when I hook up a digital source such as a DVD player to the DD inputs, the DDP1 shows as decoding ac3 but no sound is heard from my receiver. Any ideas??? By the way, the out to my receiver is by 6 discrete channels from the DDP1.

I admit, although I have two DDP-1s, I've never used them for anything but LD. I may have to try this.

Mine works fine with DVD. But it will only work normally with a 5.1 track IIRC. You may have to go to test mode for 2.0. The test mode allows for ProLogic decoding and playback of PCM stereo. I've tried this with CD to see how the onboard DACs work and they are quite good.

Can't figure out why there is no sound? DVD player hooked up and a 5.1 soundtrack playing through to the DDP1. Have tried the coaxial and the optical. Shows the signal being demodulated, but that's it. By the way, LDs work perfect through the RF input. Funny! :? :?
