Hi! So im getting a X9, and about do buy a muse decoder; just wondering, is it possible to run regular LDs through the decoder as well? |

No. Player will detect if it's a Muse LD (an will display the little HD Logo) and use the muse output. If it's a standard LD, the HD Logo will not light on, on the player will use the standard output. |

The only exception I know of would be the Panasonic TU-AHD100, a video processor which incorporates the MUSE decoder function. In this case, you would be using the NTSC output of the player & input of the processor, which would serve as a line doubler : the MUSE decoder, properly speaking, is not involved at all. Since the TU-AHD100 only outputs line-doubled NTSC through the RGBHV inputs, the advantage is not clear, although I have reason to believe that it incorporates a very high quality comb filter. (I now have the AHD100N model, which may have slightly different features, but I haven't finished testing it yet.) |

ok =) ended up getting a Sony MSC-4000, so will try to find a good deinterlacer for the regular LD output |
