Anyhow, a nice discovery. At least it exists something that can actually use those outputs. Always been puzzled by those...

I found something interesting, Outlaw Model 970 preamp, it takes the Muse 3+1 inputs in and does digital bass management (creates a .1 LFE channel and applies all crossovers I set). The other useful thing is it can input / output component video from a Muse decoder so you can make sure the A/V stays in sync. I have been using this for all of my LD audio and am very pleased (still need an exterior AC3 demod) especially at the price they are going for on eBay. https://outlawaudio.com/products/970.html

Can't say for the Sony MSC-3000 but I just opened a Sony MSC-4000 today and, as mentioned before by substance, these are AKM => AKM AK4319VM. Finally found a scan of the paper Datasheet on a Polish website! https://manuals.lddb.com/DACs/AKM/AK4319.pdfNot super exciting, they were also used in mid-range 90's Pioneer A/V amps. Maybe they had few choices of DACs dealing natively with 48kHz at the time, they are not even using SONY's. Attachment:

As discussed with substance recently, maybe using the 2 digital Coax out for 3+1 on 2 external stereo DACs could be an option. As in: - MSC-4000 > Coax 1 to DAC #1 > Multi-ch in L + R
- MSC-4000 > Coax 2 to DAC #2 > Multi-ch in C + SRD L/R (Y-split?)
To re-create a 5ch output via better DACs. Julien
