Post subject:  Any preferred MUSE decoders?

Hi!

Since I got my hands on a Pioneer HLD-X9, I have to try out the Hi-Vision stuff as well. Seems it exist several different MUSE decoders out there... Any pros and cons regarding the different models? Which one would be "best"?

That question partly depends on the features you need.
Most people will go for the Victor HV-MD2 if they need MUSE->NTSC downconversion, & the Sony MSC-3000 or -4000 otherwise.
I have presented an overview of models, including features & an attempt to put them in chronological order. The later ones, in general, have somewhat better video performance, use less power, & don't have cooling fans so are quieter.

Brilliant! After having a look at that overview you've made, it seem like it is the Sony MSC-4000 that I want. Did some quick searches on that model and looks like that model can suffer from either audio or video issues, though. Probably will have to ask for a potential unit to be tested before I buy one.
