Post subject:  [MSC-4000] Operating without the remote?

I've looked at the great English instructions that Publius has done for this decoder and it seems the menu and most functions can be operated from the front panel without any need for the remote.

There are a couple of audio mode selection buttons that don't appear on the front panel though. Could any users of this decoder tell me if not having those would be a problem using the unit for LD playback? If they are necessary can it be overcome by connecting to the audio outputs labelled 14-18 in the manual and selecting with the 'recording menu' screen?

Thanks for any insight you can offer.

You will never need the "TV/Independent" or "Main/Sub" audio controls when watching a Hi-Vision LD. To the best of my knowledge, no discs were ever produced with multiple audio programmes. Would have been a useful feature in some cases, but no such luck.
