I just recieved my TU-AHD100 last week !
With many ajustment I could notice that this MUSE adapter is not only one of the best Muse Decoder, but also
- the best Y/C separater I ever seen
- the best Noise reducer I ever seen
- A good line doubler for 480i source
- maybe a LD-G subtitle decoder (I need to test this fonction)
- A good color/black level equalizer
- Has Video projector BNC RGBHV connector (connected to my VP50 and TV, not yet on projector)
- Also a good Muse downcoder
This is actually the best machine I ever seen !
It costed 800000 yens 20 years ago、I bought it for 3000 Yens on Yahoo auction.

Here is the best setting I could do :
-HLD-X0 -> muse cable -> TU-AHD100 1080i -> cable BNC RGBHV -> VP50 convert to 1080p -> cable HDMI to TV Sony46 inch.

The picture is crystal clear, Here a test with stargate HiVision MUSE. The blacks are good too ! Nothing to say ! It is like theater !

Did you get a remote control? I haven't been able to find one.

Yes. I get one. And it seems that you cannot access to many optimisation if you don't have it...
inside the remote control, there is a switch for compatibility to other machines (channel 1,2,3). Then maybe, at the opposite, you can find a remote control of other machine who works with the TU-AHD100.
If you want details about what effect does this or that option for your muse website, please ask me when you want. I will be happy to contribute !

Edit : I have also the user manual if you need scan.

The kind folks at Panasonic sent me a scan of the user manual, all 84 pages of it.
I have a remote, number TNQ10456, belonging to some related equipment, which may work. I haven't tested it yet. Other than that, there is the option of the RS422A interface on the back panel, or trying to work out the necessary codes to build my own remote (as I figured out for the Sony MST-2000).

I have two, but one of them has some kind of problem (maybe a defective power supply?) which makes it work unreliably. I opened it up once, & it's an amazing beast inside.

yeah ! I saw that only by the little holes on the top. It seems full inside.
One of the best thing you can do with the remote is to change line to frame. The machine is automaticly set to line setting, but it was for CRT I supose, and the screen has strange resolution. But in frame, the image is clear !

My TU-AHD100 died
Publius, you know a lot about this machine. Do you have any idea ?
During the last 3 month, the TU-AHD100 was harder and harder to power on (it took 1 hour some time after clicking the on button.)
No it never ON. But when I plug it, it does a sound like power on a machine.

First thing to check would be the power supply voltages. Probably the electronics require a rock-solid voltage. If electrolytic capacitors have aged too much, for instance, it may not be possible.

A good muse cable is a 75 OHM coaxial cable with RCA connectors (or BNC for some players).
Depending on your wealth and style, a cheap one will likely work -
but you can also spend several hundred bucks on a very special one.
I think I use an Oehlbach "wannabe hi-end" cable myself for MUSE output.

I just got one of these, got it working for Muse but can't figure out how to try the composite in "upscaling".

Can anyone tell me where to plug in the standard LD player composite and also how to get it to that input? Do I need a remote to do this?? Do I have to use the RGBHV to do this? Right now I am using the component out which works for Muse.

Also FYI the issue with these seem to be power supply caps, myself and a buddy both got one recently and both had leaking caps, once both power supply boards were recapped all was good with both.

I realise this is now a rather old thread and it may not be relevant any longer but just to advise there is currently a TU-AHD100 (TNQ10454) remote control for sale on eBay for US $159 or best offer!
