Any help would be amazing!

I would say most likely it would, I have a late 90s pioneer and the remote works on just about everything, its programmable so it even works my Sony tv.

Only way to know is to try it...

virtually any PIONEER Reciever remote will operate virtually any PIONEER Reciever, from the first IR remote-capable SX/VSX units from around 1986 or so,
to, most likely, today's SX and SC units. PIONEER always was very good about setting IR code standards and standing by them,
unlike at least other mfr. (DENON) that shifted IR codes for their CD players somewhere between 1985~1986.

any arbitrary PIONEER CDP, for contrasting example, will remotely operate from pretty much any arbitrary PIONEER CDP remote unit.
in fact the one issue i've discovered in the extended PIONEER IR code scheme to date
is a reuse of at least some of the LD function code index in PIONEER's established BRD player code table.

nothing of an issue for myself personally, since my own LDP is pre-remote POWER ON/OFF,
and i've never had occasion to have both my PIONEER LDP and BRDP powered up simultaneously
but all the same, and issue of possible contention for anyone with a PIONEER Blu-Ray Player and a 1990's-era PIONEER LDP...

I have the opposite problem then!

My Pioneer VSA-D8EX always had some IR trouble (only working from close range) with the original remote. Eventually it stopped working completely and I blamed the remote control. But I picked up a not so different remote from a Pioneer VSX European model and... it's not working either.

Ultimately I can control most of the A/V Amp from the font buttons... except the internal setup for input/outputs.

I would think the IR on the Amp side is dead... Can it be replaced?
