Maybe in the USA.

Yes, in the USA. I do remember someone in a shop showing a widescreen version of one of the Rambo movies to me, from Japan and with Japanese subtitles in the black-bar area below the movie.

Well regarding the whole letterboxing on Laserdisc and such, here's a snippet from the "Museum" of the now defunct website Laserdisc Planet pulled from the Internet Archive . . .

Apparently the CED of Amacord was the first fully letterboxed home video release if this is to be believed! You would think LD would have that honor.

Got an O.M. in near-new condition, that actually doesn't Reek of Ciggy-Smoke (Previous Owner) and S.M. for the VSX-49TX/i,
the nearly-identical TotL step up from my 2001 VSX-47TX AVR;

Image

You can also see the O.M. for the 1999 VSX-27/26/24TX series up there...
as i personally prefer that AVR series' CU-VSX159 remote for use with the VSX-47TX;

Also... i have these 2001/2004 Catalogs that i had requested direct from PIONEER - featuring the VSX-47/49/59TXi AVR family -
- back when they were current... and i was still in my very-early-adulthood;

Got my ultimate Lost in translation kit. The hibiki whiskey has been on the shelf for year and a half already and now got the correct glass that was used in the movie by Bill Murray when filming the commercial. Baccarat Massena Tumbler

I have long-been somewhat skeptical, yet curious, in regards to the oft-lofty Speaker Cable-related claims to be found out there.

Well, Boy-oh-BOY did these Japanese custom-make CABLECRAFT 8ft. 12ga. affairs make an instant True Believer out of me!!!

Made with MOGAMI 3103 12ga. bulk Speaker Cable, and terminated with ONKODO Banana Plugs...
i could not hardly even believe the ways in which these made my system open right the hell up.

Authority, Soundstage Dimension, and layers of VERY clearly-defined Detail, unlike anything i had yet heard
within my 20 years of interest in Hi-Fi.

This was most assuredly the sorely-missing link that has well and truly completed my system...

Why are the cables sticking half way out of the amp and why are they bending the jacks on the amp itself.

Well spotted rein-o! I’m reckoning that tasuke should find some way to support those heavyweight cables as the strain on the speaker sockets will surely prove too much very soon! Trust me - I speak from a past similar experience :thumbdown:

Thanks for the Advice; i took it to heart.

i installed some heavy duty Eye Hooks on my wood System Rack; seems to be perfectly effective Strain Relief;

That's as Far as they will go.

either the Receiver has Multiway Bonding Posts that are on the stubby side, or the Cables have unusually-long Banana shafts...

Either way, something is breaking right now. I’d make changes.

I don't usually post my toy purchases here, because 1) I buy a lot, and 2) I don't want to end up like tasuke, but in a case like this one, I'm making an exception.

I Love you too♥

Anyhow... Serious Nostalgia Trip lately... reaching all the way back to my first stabs at Mecha Models as an early-teen in the early/mid-1990's;

Got into lego just recently mostly movie theme related. Started with a lazy day not knowing what to do… so went out shopping and gave in to an Indiana Jones lego diorama.
After that I discovered the Star Wars sets…. :lol:
